Reader’s choice smartphone – Mobile Madness 2015: The Winner is...
I don't normally vote in online tech polls. But when I do it's for BlackBerry. I won't say which BBRY won. Give these fine gents and gals some page hits.

Reader’s choice smartphone – Mobile Madness 2015: The Winner is...

I'm so diappointed at the shorts and all the analysts who work for them. They need to work harder to bring the SP down further because I need to buy at $8. ;):p
Does there have to be some financial incentive behind hating Blackberry? I wouldn't assume that everybody in this thread bashing Apple has a short position on AAPL.
"but when I think they are doing something silly, I tell them".
That's a good thing but We are not Blackberry!!
We are Proud members of this thread I support BBRY and I buy shares !.
I honestly don't want to engage in a titanic battle of wits, but what would you call praising them over and over, regardless of what they do or say? Obviously, raising children this way is insanity, although people have tried that. I would maintain that to behave that way towards friends or family would be equally unjust.
You know, sometimes I really do find the overreactions to my comments amusing, but I'm actually being serious here. I'm not a troll, or evil demon. I really do love and support BlackBerry. I doubt there are many people in here who have 'sold' more BlackBerry phones to others than I have.
Now, I'm sure you have a favourite sports team. Do you applaud the dumb plays they inevitably run from time to time, or do you, like everyone else, sometimes scream with frustration at the television?
In here, we have people, including myself, who own BlackBerry stock, love the brand and products, and also want the company to 'win'. Now, let's look back over the last few years. Following the unwritten rules sometimes chanted in here, we should always stay positive and not call out the errors, or sheer acts of stupidity, committed by our favourite 'smartphone maker'. But in hindsight, what would that have looked like? In hindsight, was pricing the Z10 at over 500, despite the lack of apps, the toxic brand image, and unknown OS a good idea, or an act of utter folly and madness? What about the BBMx release? Did that go well, or did it end up annoying loads of iPhone users who found that BBM didn't really work all that well on iOS (it seems to be much, much more stable now)? How about pricing the Z30 at the same pricepoint as the newly released Galaxy of the moment? A sagacious business decision, or a naive flop? We could go on, but the point is that anyone who thinks BlackBerry haven't made mistakes, aren't making mistakes, and won't make any mistakes in the future, is a damned *****. People make mistakes. Companies make mistakes. BlackBerry do, and will, make mistakes. What we should hope is that the wise decisions will overwhelm the stupid ones, and that we will have a successful company.
The thing that makes negative comments bloom into silly season in here, is partly that people react to them with too much irrationality and silliness. FUD has become a sort of cool term to throw around at anything apart from sometimes blind praise, and anyone who raises a hand to suggest that BlackBerry are doing something stupid again is accused of being one of many apocryphal or mythical creatures. Conspiracies about freedom and democracy fly around like players on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and things get generally...well...silly.
I suppose I wish that negative or positive comments could be challenged with 'I disagree, and this is why...' rather than the rest of it, but that's the way it is.
Now, good evening to you. You may not like me, but you are wrong about me being a short seller, or BlackBerry hater. Most real 'BlackBerry haters' can't be bothered to come in here at all, or don't even know we exist.

Maybe not but if you were bashing Apple in the "I support AAPL and buy shares" thread on imore, you would need some type of motivation to do so wouldn't you? And what would that motivation be?
Well, it would probably depend. If you were bashing the poor battery life, or needless powercord changes, or the screens smashing all the time, that would make good sense. If you were complaining that Apple weren't selling enough devices, people would probably just laugh it off.
As for us in here, in nine out of ten cases, people point out perceived problems because they don't want those problems to exist, not because they are happy about them. Just think about it for a moment. If you hated your neighbour, and wanted to beat him in the local gardening competition, would you shout criticism over the fence at him all day long, pointing out where you think his garden is showing weakness, or would you just sit back and quietly watch him planting his bulbs at the wrong time, and sprinkling too much fertiliser on the rosebushes? I know what I would do.

The Passport not only won the 2015 mobile device award, it as well as the Classic destroyed everything in their paths:

After rounds and rounds of head to head match ups were finally ready to announce this years readers choice for Mobile Madness: The BlackBerry Passport.
The Passport beat out the Motorola Droid Turbo, Galaxy Note 4, HTC One M9 and finally the One Plus One in this years tournament style poll. *While the Passport may not be on the minds of most buyers when shopping flagship devices, maybe it should be. Yes the design is bizarre and it feels so weird in your pocket, but then again so do most phablets. BlackBerry historically makes solid, durable hardware and the Passport does not disappoint in that respect. The 4.5-inch display is a bit small compared to other flagships but sports a stunning 1440 x 1440-pixel resolution display.
And to think they were marketing it with their . . . :dancing::party::rotfl:

Br... Shoes!!!. Nice!!!
I hear you, Molly. Although I am usually very optimistic (which is why I have my life savings invested all in BlackBerry), I also do get frustrated by BlackBerry's managements decisions. Stupid pricing, no advertising and so on. I have tons of ideas/suggestions and I usually send them to my ex-colleagues in email (I used to work in r&d at BlackBerry, 7 years ago and still have some friends there) or post in Armchair CEO threads.
Eg: see my post at http://forums.crackberry.com/showthread.php?t=1010442 -
This thread (I support BBRY..) is not right place for armchair CEO-ing (which is what you are doing and I tend to do when I am frustrated with poor decisions). Occasional posts are fine but when someone (say, you) has a lot to say, it's perhaps better said in Armchair CEO section.

I don't think you hate BlackBerry.
I just think that the ad ideas that you keep repeating will be successful ,is an abject waste of time and resources from a current business standpoint.
Rotating a monthly display of BB to different cities? C' mon.
I hear some frustration in your posts and it seems many think that a Holy ad blitz is what BlackBerry need.
You are forgetting one thing.
BlackBerry can't afford to advertise that way yet to the extent that it benefits them financially. It will just hurt the bottom line right now.
Chen has constantly kept BlackBerry in the news on a weekly basis it seems . I never stop hearing the word BlackBerry on the radio and other news outlets, regardless of FUD or good news.
The focus is Enterprise, and it has to be that way first and foremost as this is where BlackBerry needs to dominate and show its prowess. They can't go to war on two fronts. They need to fight the battle they have the best chance of winning, and it isn't the fickle consumers.
None of what Chen and Co are doing is intended to slight the average consumer, but industry is what the BlackBerry name has to become synonymous with first.
Do you see any signs of Microsoft, Apple, Samsung, IBM, Mobile Iron, Good, Blackphone etc., easing up and relenting to BlackBerry? Not gonna happen.
The big 3 have oodles of cash. BlackBerry, not so much.
Time is of the essence, and execution and focus imperative.
A more consumer oriented and expensive ad onslaught with you in mind..... bad idea.
They need to stay on task, stay in the news, keep releasing phones, making acquisitions, partnerships , shaking s**t up and keep the others off balance, because they are not going to want to lose to a "dead" and "desperate " company.
Chen is doing his best with the resources at hand and he has competition coming at him from all sides hoping he fails.
The winds of change are blowing.
Handset sales and BB10 adoption rates will increase if BlackBerry keep doing what they are doing.
BlackBerry is winning their battle so far but they are certainly not out of the woods yet.
Stability and cash flow will bring with it the ability to reach out to everyday consumers and add a little frosting to their cake. But it won't be tomorrow, or 3 months from now, as you stated is your BlackBerry ultimatum.
If holding stocks in the company, and focusing on the hardware sales decrease has you in a tizzy , then do what you must as you are biased because of your investment. And you have every right to be. None of us are running a BlackBerry charity.
The bloody Apple watch isn't even in stores, and I'm bombarded daily with their very professional eye catching ads of that feminine ( my opinion) device. BlackBerry can't compete with that kind of solicitation .
It's what the average consumer doesn't know about BlackBerry that is important right now ,that needs to be leveraged in the best possible way to ensure survival.
BlackBerry is open for business and BlackBerrys, mean business.

... I wonder if Huawei is intending to somehow 'skin' bb10 services on their Android phone. Think of it as a sort of reverse of what bb10 does to Android runtime, but with this method, full Google services could be used.
I'd love for BlackBerry to somehow allow for this type of licensing.
Could create a craze in the Android markets around the globe.
Obviously, the best security would be full BES with BlackBerry handsets, but this would be like free advertising while making money.
OT:
Fascinating.

Hey DSB,
I Respectfully-fully disagree with you on these points.
China would be the ultimate enterprise market to hit.
Partnering could mean many things; could be as simple as some cross licensing. Or perhaps some services for hardware-building.
I'll tell you this much about intellectual property. Owning a 53 page patent on a transceiver device has put me through everything from designing a PCB (printed circuit board) to ordering special chipsets by you guessed it: the Chinese. They are the best at this, and by the way, I am certain that they already know (or could easily back engineer) every single part of a BlackBerry phone. They couldn't do anything with it though.
GE, on the other hand, is not niche like BlackBerry and they don't make anything that can't be easily duplicated.
BlackBerry on the other hand offers something that nobody else in the world currently has.
My question is: what does the Chinese government use that is as or more secure than the BlackBerry full approach? They use custom Linux for PC because they kicked MS out years ago due to alleged spying, but what about their cellphones? I would imagine that they could really benefit from BlackBerry technology; possibly skinned on top of their Huawei Droids, as I just mentioned.
Cheers.
Are you saying you can sell your stake right now and profit 25%?
Because if so,...you would be foolish not too.

If Canada blocks a sale to Samsung or someone else at this point, they should bail the company out and give it some serious tax credits. It's not fair to shareholders. Did anyone think that the company could never sell its assets when they bought in 2 or more years ago? What discount do you apply to account for this?

Well, yeah, I do think a focused, limited ad campaign in key cities is a good idea. I'm not sure how 'c'mon' proved otherwise, but we can leave the topic alone for now and see how things play out. I agree that Chen is doing his best, but I also think BlackBerry shown themselves to be weak in the consumer strategy department, and I am not sure they've solved that problem yet. There is a difference between holding back out of deep wisdom, and holding back because of a lack of understanding or confidence, and BlackBerry, on the consumer front, are probably in the latter category at the moment. As I said though, we've had a bit of a discussion about it, and we can probably leave it there for now. Maybe the current strategy really is the best one, and maybe it isn't. We won't ever know for sure because we can run any parallel universe experiments. Again, to end with a positive, they've finally gone and priced a device properly, with the Leap (let's ignore the awful name) opening at 199. Hopefully, that proves to be the start of good things.
