I had to repeat this, because it it so good.
By the way, I think the writer got it slightly wrong... Dan Dodge most certainly meant "SOUP - Source of Unknown Provenance"! ;)
Kudos to Dan Dodge and Gordon Bell and long live QNX.

Z30? I'm grabbing the Passport just to try the form factor in real life..might be awesome?
Eazzy Peazzy
Should run a bit smoother than the Z10 because of the smaller screen with less pixels. With these specs it will be hopefully not that expensive. Still a good phone for companies to replace legacy BBs, and I think, that's exactly, why they made it. To replace existing legacy devices asap. Then they can finally close BBOS and save millions.
But I agree, for BB-fans not that attractive.
The Classic is boring as anything, and has an awful name to match its unimpressive specs. The Passport is much more interesting, and hopefully we've got a Z10/30 replacement coming with specs to beat whatever is out when the time comes.

Z30 Gold winner consumer product of the year
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/blackb...130000061.htmlBlackBerry Limited (BBRY)(BB.TO), a global leader in mobile communications, announced today that the BlackBerry Z30 smartphone has been named the gold winner in the Consumer Product of the Year category in Best in Biz Awards 2014 International, the only independent business awards program judged by members of the press and industry analysts.

Look, if they give this device a fancy name, everybody would laugh. But with this name it's clear, this is only a successor of legacy devices, for people who want a replacement. This is not "the future" of BB handsets and not a highend masterpiece of engineering. The name "Classic" moves the focus to the Passport and hopefully to the Z50 next year, and that's not bad, because these devices are more groundbreaking.
Have you people missed me?
It feels like if the disembodied spirit of Steve Jobs appeared in the sky and announced that BlackBerry was the 'it' device for the next decade, the market would still be able to spin it into a negative for the SP of this company. BlackBerry needs some traction!

I have! Oh wait...
BB10 4 ME
Well ladies and gents, I drove down to NC on Monday for some training and ended up dropping 900$ on a new alternator, battery, and tow job. Needless to say I doubt I'll be able to buy a whole lot of stock anytime soon lol. I haven't really kept up with the thread since but looks like a lot of positive news for a very unmoving sp. Can't wait for sept to get here!

Cisco CEO Pressured by Goldman Sachs to Embrace Software - Bloomberg
As they, Cisco, are reporting quarterly results after the bell, some believe it's a sign of things to come.. a possible partnership, acquistion, or... and BlackBerry is often mentioned.
Just imagine a partner is willing to take a stake in BlackBerry, and would be willing to find a seller, say Fairfax, to sell off a bunch of stock at 10 usd to the buyer, say Cisco. Wouldn't that be funny?
As a newb, I dont get to post links... is that why I can't find out how to post a new thread?? I guess I will ask my question here =)
I'd like to work on a new investment article with the BB keyboard as part of my focus. This was brought up in StockTwits, but I thought about posting the question here too.
Can people who have a BB10 touchscreen device try this and let me know if you like this typing experience better? In Column vs In Letter. The default out of the box is In Letter. To change it so the words are not popping up all over the place and you can basically keep your eyes on the upper half of the screen while you type (or not really look at the keyboard as it autocorrects), try the following...
Go to Settings > Language and Input > find Prediction and Correction.
Then, under predictions, change Portrait and Landscape Mode from In-Letter to In-Column and exit settings.
Then try typing a text. Do you find you can type faster? Please let me know your thoughts =)
Other pics:Recently I have received brand new Blackberry Passport, next big thing from Canadian manufacturer (and trust me when I say big, this thing is like nothing before) Since there was so many questions on Twitter, after uploading just one picture of the device, I thought I will give it a go and share my experience with the device so far. I am not very technical person and I am not really interested in deeper technical specification (goes for every phone I have ever used) If it works for me then we will get on just fine.
So what do I think about it? I do like it, and like it a lot. Shape of this thing surely does not remind your typical mobile phone or typical Blackberry. Huge 4.5 inch square screen built into rather squareish frame. But it makes sense from the moment you power it on. Screen comes alive and hits you with its sharpness. High resolution 1440 x 1440 with over 450 dpi, nothing like any other Blackberry to the date. And it works, super responsive, we browsing is really refreshing on Passport compared to any other Berry out there.
Camera actually works too, thanks to 13mp shooter, You can finally start taking photos which will look like photos for a change rather than some shapes and some colours on the screen. Auto focus is very quick even in low light.
In camera settings you will find three options for screen ratio 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, HDR mode, Timer, Scene Selection, Flash Controls, Time Shift, Burst, Panorama, Video plus bunch of settings like screen grid, geo tagging, picture stabilisation …
Front facing camera has no auto focus and its bit dark, but still usable.
KEYBOARD is so cool that I really would not be able to fault it, typing numbers on screen is bit different at the beginning if you were using any other QWERTY but I have used to it already. One little issue, you wont be able to type with one hand, not a keyboard fault but device width.
Keyboard is touch sensitive which means you can scroll up and down without touching the screen, deleting words by sweeping from right to left, moving cursor hoovering over keyboard rather then screen.
Battery life seems great so far. I use this device everyday for work and all my social stuff, basically tons of email daily and Twitter since I have posted pic of Passport LOL. I don’t play games so can not take this into consideration.
Battery is build in. This might be issue for some, especially when battery will start wearing down. But as mentioned above I am more than happy with performance and I only put it back on charge around 10 – 11 p.m.
From the design point of view Passport is a looker. Really nice material all around (not sure if silver bit is metal, aluminium or really good plastic) device feels solid and robust. No moving parts, all put together rather nicely. Top and side buttons feel premium too, compared to Z10 and Q10.
This phone really reminds me of Blackberry 9900, it is miles away in terms of performance, and it serves same purpose as any other Blackberry, but does it in style and feel as my trusty Bold.
Is this could be game changer for Blackberry…

PS. I was planning on expanding this write up and adding more content. Due to other commitments ( read Work ) this will have to do for now. I would love to hear from you and find out what do you think of the phone itself and my mini blog (always wanted to write one) Over weekend I will try to upload more pictures of the device and camera shots. Also please forgive any typos errors and poor editing, all affair was rushed a bit.
All the best.

Transcend...well, I'll be honest...will take some getting used too...I prefer the in letter set up, it's quicker imo.
Eazzy Peazzy
As soon as they drop partnership news the shorts will cover and we will be close to double :) until then we dont have much transaction what so ever
OT news of general interest on Tesla from the Related Technologies and Security files:
New Tesla Roadster Coming in 2017 ... Maybe | CleanTechnica
From a previous BB article, there was mention of Tesla Hack:
Qihoo 360 (NYSE:QIHU), an internet security Chinese firm, sponsored the latest SyScan 360 Security Conference, which offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who could hack a Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) vehicle, and showed that it can be done. The company reported recently that it was able to develop ways to remotely take control of your Tesla Model S while parked or even in motion.
According to Forbes, the hackers were able to remotely control the car's locks, horn and headlights. There was sparse information available on the mechanics of the hack. However, some media sources speculated that a vulnerability in a web app could be the culprit.
This isn't the first breach of Tesla's security. On April 2014, a researcher showed that exploiting the way a Tesla car communicates with your smartphone could allow a remote hacker to continuously track its location and unlock its doors.
