I've been long BBRY since Jan last year. Adding to my position along the way. When it hit $6 it was painful but I doubled down. I know Waterloo, I've used Blackberry products and use the Z10 for work right now. Looking forward to $40 which is what P. Watsa estimated would be the value in 2-3 years. I've learned quite a bit from this thread -- so thank you all for this discussion.
btw; does anyone know if the 25,000 shares J. Chen purchased were his own private purchases or part of RSU/stock options?
Well, this rally has been a good one, I'm placing an order to sell some shares just above this price. As much as I love the story, I have a large gain in my retirement account and I'm going to lock that one in. Don't follow me on this as I'm always locking in profits in that account.
We have broken every form of resistance known to BlackBerry, if I were short I would be so worried about this stock right now. Today is the biggest event in BlackBerry history in terms of finally shaking off that bear trade, there is nothing more the stock has to do except execute on their new business model. As far as my main trading acount, nothing is changing there. GL

I think its got something to do with the acquisition of Airwatch.
Airwatch have 10,000 customers.
9 out of 10 biggest US retailers.
Acquired for $1.5 Billion
BB have 80,000 customers.
Pentagon , G7 countries, developing nations, etc.
What is it worth to an acquirer like SAP ( speculating of course...) for example?
This chart is so insightful ! Thanks X2 :)
@Morgan, thank you for your great advice over the few weeks I have followed thus forum. I gave traded two times over thus period and am very happy. I've already sold all my position in my trading account but holding long in my other accounts.

Et moi aussi! LoL :dancing:
Alright gang, time for a reminder as - I'm not sure, but quite ;) - we may have some new visitors soon.
Welcome, newcomers, please take the time to read below :
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
If you're not used to deal with stocks, the following should be your starting point.
1. This is real money. Your money. There's no tryouts nor refunds.
2. You must establish what is your capacity before entering the game. Set it and keep it as an absolute limit (you can add later, depending on your revenues profile). Generally, something like 15% of your currently available and free cash is a reasonable amount. Do not speculate with money you don't own in full (credit). If you lose, don't rely on things like "averaging down" or "buy on dips" unless you have additional cash that fits with this rule.
3. Stay calm. Looking at the stock on a day basis is hard for your nerves. Either good or bad, fluctuations can happen very fast.
4. We are a drop in the bucket, even those of us with 100s K $ in the game are nothing if we compare to the global cap (count in $K Billions)
5. Those playing "against" you have more power, more money and know how the market can react. You don't. Do not use "everyday" logic here. This "game" has its own rules and it takes a while to understand/accept them.
6. One possible approach is to play "long" (counting in years), this particular approach is the one I suggested when starting this thread back in Feb 2011. I personally stick to this approach, as it appears to be somehow the most adapted for rookies like us, engaging tiny amounts and with very limited skills. Be careful about fees/taxes you may have to pay for each transaction: they can ruin your gains easily.
7. Please be aware that if you consider investing in stocks, mixing different companies and types of investments (ex : safe, aggressive, short term, long term) is highly recommended.
8. Last but not least : stay humble and prudent.
Disclaimer : By no mean I intend to forecast a raise of the shares or any kind of advantage. You have to perform your own research. Positions, experiences, questions and suggestions made in this thread are personal views and NOT authorized investment instructions. Be aware that You can lose everything and neither I nor any contributor in this thread will be responsible for this in any circumstance.
:) Good luck !
Chen is Now BlackBerrys $135 Million Man
John Chen was hired as BlackBerry'sBB.T +8.82% new chief executive in November with a hefty pay package that at the time was worth roughly $88 million in cash and stock options. Now, after a recent surge in the companys stock, Mr. Chens package is worth more than $135 million and rising.

Waterloo . . . . we have PROFIT!!!!
Back in september that huge drop on the chart was from the initial 1B writedown correct? I can't remember at this point lol! but seems like we're close to covering that gap so next stop would be back to mid teens. I am a little worried about us being really overbought at the moment, although I like this nice upward trend we need to move sideways a few days to work that RSI off. Then we can continue ;)
You are very welcome! This is a "buy the dips" stock now, anytime it corrects you buy some more. I see that the 125 MM shares tied to the bond offering are in play now and that dilution is going to weight on the stock over time. The news to counter that should have kept the stock from ever seeing a price below $ 6.00/shr in the first place. There is nothing new about the recent news, just the perception and excuses for why the stock is higher today. We knew they have huge real estate on the books, we knew they needed to partner on the hardware side, we knew they had a pile of cash and that their security is the best in the world. Nothing new has come out of this investment over the past 6 months. But now the market is ready to accept those points as valuable to BlackBerry. What a difference a couple of months make! LOL
I haven't sold any share yet but they are up for grabs at a slighly higher price. If the stock drops later, I'm buying more. Simple.
BB is doing quite fine today -- cheers to all

Thanks...the funny part is they enable the RFID (which has been around for years) (which fraud and police agency's have warned them not to use) and then sell you fraud protection insurance...but hey, there's no collusion. (shakes head, walks away).

From time to time...somebody has to say it: "I just love where this thread is going!" ;-)
Same DoD news but the last paragraph is interesting:
At CES, Randy Siegel, founder of Center Circle Consultants and chairman of an AFCEA subcommittee on tactical and wearable mobile devices, applauded the move.
