anyone know where to find the weekend sale numbers from UK?
I have been combing the interweb trying to get some kind of "official" numbers concerning volume sold over the weekend in the UK but no luck...anyone else finding anything?
We thought the same at the same time...sorry slipstream89
IMO, there is nothing for BlackBerry to gain by announcing sale figures right now.
everyone will say;
"OH, well apple sold X-million in a day, and BB only sold Y-thousand. told you BB is doomed."
might as well keep it open to positive interpretation and let the stock price rise on the rumors.
You will not get them - it is very very hard to get hard figures at this stage, you will get analyst guesses but they are generally only guesses and are often wrong - both WP7 and WP8 were reported to have 'solid' launches with the sort of words being used about this weekend's performance being used there. I'm a little wary that there is a pump and dump going on given some of the comments that have come out of analysts. One analyst who says that the sell-through was 'several hundred thousands' also commented that there were lines at multiple stores - I can find no evidence that this was the case - no photos, no mentioned on social media, no mentions in the media - no evidence at all this has happen (except at one store with a celeb appearance). The other factor that makes me wary is that, going off past history, UK carriers will push out press releases pretty quickly if they have a high seller, so far I haven't come across any.
The flip to that is of course that this *is* a high selller and we simply don't know at this point for reasons that aren't clear. Even then we have to be careful with the early data - I seem to remember that the Palm Pre saw a lot of suppressed demand from PalmOS fans and we know that Blackberry is much better - so is it suppressed demand or are we seeing a wider sign back to Blackberry?
That is a really long way of saying I have no idea
All I can find is "Our initial checks show strong demand in Canada and UAE with strong sales in the UK"
If you call Rogers the first thing you hear is a prompt that if you are calling about the new Blackberry 10 press 1. That's a pretty good indicator of just how in demand it is.
Actually, most people know that BlackBerry is of a significantly different size than Apple. If BlackBerry announced they had sales of 1/10 what Apple had. BBRY stocks would jump to 1/10 of Apple's current price, or around $50.
In the long term, a company's stock price is based on financials. At the very least, a stock should be trading at least 20x the EPS of a company. So an earnings per share of $1 will mean BB will trade at $20. Of course there are many other factors, but announcing sales figures right now that exceed the current analyst expectations. Something like 10 Million per quarter? Will definitely help the stock price, not hurt it.
another reason why Blackberry is not going to give sales figures is that they don't want to inform the competition..........
