Pity the Z30 hasn't been marketed better:

Android And Apple At CES - Business Insider

The size difference between iPhone and Galaxy was also acute: My tiny iPhone looked like a dumbphone next to Samsung’s Galaxy and Note devices.

It turns out that using a large Android has a distinct business advantage: Business users need to write lots of emails and texts. Doing so on a large Android screen is easier than on Apple's small screens. Call it the revenge of BlackBerry: One of the reasons BlackBerry still has customers is that it's easier to type on a machine built for typing, like a BlackBerry with a keyboard. And while Apple changed forever what people want from their phones with its large touchscreen, the Apple screen is still not large enough to do a lot of typing.

    ...

While the iPhone killed off BlackBerry and the feature phone business, business users never went away. And if there is one thing business users need it is to type. The problem today is that the iPhone screen is so tiny it makes typing an unpleasant experience.

Since you love windows (loL) so much, they are making it better for you.

Windows is trying to change it's name for better. Not sure if BlackBerry use QNX some how?

And they'll probably charge a hefty fee for it too. The update to 8.1 was supposed to be a freebie simply because of all the complaints of 8. Oh well... it is what it is.

That's rough man, can't imagine the pain with that kind of pressure. Sounds like your innate inflammatory system is in over drive. Next time you see the specialist, ask him if an epidural injection of anti-inflammatory steroids would help. Your adaptive immune system should have kicked in by now, so shutting the innate system would reduce the pressure and degeneration of tissues without compromising your immunity against the viruses. An epidural itself would release some pressure as well.

There are actually two breaches here, the CSF Otorrhea is being treated with freezing, cortizone and antibiotics via deep injection into the right side of the head through the right ear. That hurts. There is a second breach where the spine attaches to the skull. The abnormally low levels of CSF pressure in the spinal area, where it should be contained, is causing excess CSF production which passes through the dura and applies downward pressure to the brain until the otorrhea dura fails at the Cochlear nerve. When the pressure backs off I feel great. The trick is to repair the CSF levels at the spinal location and then inject blood to seal off the csf otorrhea. Blood is thick and will flow to the breach and seal it off, CSF is water like, clear, odourless and flows through minor breaches.. They are killing pain at the CSF otorrhea (pain from pressure and inflamation) and doing nothing with the over production of CSF itself.

I really don't want to take up the boards time with this matter but you do understand the ramifications of all of this so I'll keep it short and try to explain my position in case others are interested in this. This phase of the virus is actually something that can happen to anyone at any time simply by receiving a concussion or blow to the head. In my case, it is the result of a virus that is eroding flesh over time. Plese protect your heads people!

Good Morning Morgan8 and the gang. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. You are very brave by dealing with this issue head on by sharing.

I know I speak for everyone here when I say I'm so grateful to have found this thread and to be privileged to your wise words and guidance. Your story and attitude are a true inspiration to me. I can appreciate your newfound perspectives resulting from your virus. I was terminally sick at a young age and surviving it shaped the man I have become. I love your resilience and aspirations to continue to travel and do what you love. Stay strong and healthy. Our well wishes and prayers go out to you and your family.

That being said, I'm thrilled to see you back in action, and sharing your advice and recommendations with us. I have to say I was really looking forward to subscribing to your BBM Channel, but I'm glad to read anything you are able to put out. There are not many people I can say I trust more than you. Following BlackBerry for the past two years has been one of the most educational experiences of my life (in so many different ways) and you have been the voice of reason behind it all along. Thank you!!!

    Mr. BBRY!!

I don't even know where to begin with your message. I hope you are completely recovered from your ailments now. You are so right, it does affect the way you see life and those around you. If I do get another chance at a normal life things will definitely be different! Family and friends are everything, having fun and helping others is so important. As far as this thread is concerned, I just want to see everyone succeed, whether that is by getting their money back in BBRY or by contributing to the board with other ideas so that all of us are involved in multiple plays.

You can't single me out here, Rarsen is the resident expert in NSA related issues, Superfly pulls information out from sources I have never heard of before, CJ questions everything said and forces us to complete our theories and backup our statements with facts. Then there is JLagoon, he is doing some killer charts for us, those 3 minute charts are excellent and that is coming from a guy with some experience here. I could go on here, this thread is extremely valuable as a whole and I get more out of it then I ever contribute.

My BBM Channels will have to wait for a couple of months now, but I do want to provide some new ideas so that spare funds are kept working in other investments too. My THLD call is missing the share float which is so important, they have 60 MM shares outstanding. I keep providing the same guidelines for each investment so that others can see a pattern develop here. I do apolize for the lack of charts in that message, I was too tired to produce them and hoped to ad them in at a later date. Thankfully, CJ produced the chart for IAG.

I focus on cash on hand, product quality, TA, low share float and great management. I won't invest in a cash strapped company, BBRY has never fallen into that category, nor are its products weak on their own merits. Still, BBRY has been a hard one to call so I hope you are okay with the events over the past year. There is no thread like this one, where can you get such a comprehensive report on a single company in real-time like this? Thanks

You can make all of the jokes you want sir, to me, as an engineer, I just want to understand the problem and fix it. Hopefully I explained it in such a way that everyone can see that a repair is possible. The risk is that of meningitis, as Plasmid_boy pointed out. I have a direct path from my nose to my brain now couple with a hole in the side of my head so there is some risk. I'm confident that something can be done here regarding the virus as we have it confined to a very small area now. Thanks for asking but ..... do tell that joke.

M8, if I were you, I would go to the Princess Margaret Hospital at University of Toronto (or other affiliated hospital that treats meningitis, if that's what you have). If you in the east coast, I would drive down to Boston's Brigham and Woman Hospital at Harvard Medical School (or Massachusetts General Hospital).
The situation that you described didn't seem right to me.

If you go to Boston, let me know and I will explore to hook you up the best Doc there.

We travel all over the Caribbean and down to the South end of Mexico and everything in between. One of our favourite trips is a quick flight to Cozumel where we rent a Jeep and travel the island for remote spots to swim and snorkel all day. It was on one of those trips where we were facing the mainland that I contracted a virus. We know this because we didn't leave a specific area that week. I only found out that I had a problem when we left the airport. I suffered incredible pain for the rest of the flight and went to the hospital as soon as we landed. The virus had kicked in and was eating away at that time. We had no idea where all of the waste products from the mainland and the island itself went. It doesn't surprise me now that they simply dump their waste into the sea! My family and friends don't ever want to go South again and that's plain silly so I promised them that as soon as I can fly I'll be returning to Cozumel. This was a very rare occurance and not likely to happen to me again. Looking back, I probably won't be staying in/near Cancun anytime soon but everywhere else is still a go.

As for BBRY, when the cerebral-spinal fluid burst, I sold off a large part of my holdings for my family's sake. Once we felt I was okay I quickly bought those shares back. Part of that trade was 50,000 shares of BBRY, since then, I have thought about trading those shares and have done so twice now. I hold a great deal more of BBRY but I will be trading the 50,000 in the weeks ahead. My $ 10.25/shr target would be my next trade. I'll have a better feel for it all when we near $ 10.00/shr. I could in fact decide NOT to sell any of those shares so don't plan on following me only to find out that I purchased more! LOL

    Hope that answers your questions?
Thanks Dave. It definitely makes sense to trade more often if the situation you're in can be unstable.

I visited Cozumel about 10 years back with my parents. Beautiful (!) place. When you're fully recovered, and no one else in your family is willing to join, I'd be more than happy to be your wing man / diving partner

'I have found that the only thing that is worth considering "serious" in your life are those around you, nothing else matters. Without going through something like this, I would never have appreciated everyone else as much as I do today. Not that I didn't care for them, it's how my actions affect others, that part I never understood. Now I get it, so my advice to everyone is, take good care of your health, you might need to call on your heart and lungs to fight a battle of a life time.'

& thank you for these inspiring words! I'm sure you're doing everything right, despite the tough conditions.

    Thanks sidhuk!!

I'll respond to your message even though you have a Z30 and I do not. I felt I should say something now after I went MIA during the holiday season and had no way to explain why I might not be posting to this thread any more. That would have been rude to everyone who have supported me for the past year. So I decided to open up about it and I'm glad I did.

I retired years ago due to the high taxes I was paying and a freak vehicle accident. I was traveling to several plants doing my engineering over-sight and on the road for 23 straight hours visiting 6 plants when one of our plants shut down completely. I got a call from the Director of Engineering for North America (how could you turn him down?) to race to the plant and getting it going again. I had driven 1,000 kms so far and hadn't slept and still went to the plant at 4:00 AM, I'm a professional engineer but unlike many engineers, I have Gold Seals in Mechanical and Electrical so I can work with any unionized group and there is nothing they can do about it. So I got the plant going, but later, while heading home I hit the back end of a van. Because I was so tired, I didn't blink on impact and ended up with Central Serous Retinopathy in one eye. Your retina tears away from the optic nerve and you are blind for a few months. When this happened the second time, I quit working and see 100% now. Stupid me.

My group is submitting 3 patents for drugs that deal with related problems (trauma, chemical, and pathogen-induced neuroinflammation). Would probably work at earlier stage of your infection, but I don't expect these drugs to be approved at least 10 years down the road (if they are approved at all). The treatments that you just described should do it. Oh, I would avoid spicy and greasy food and alcohol until it is fully healed up, now is a time good to listen to our mothers - eat your vegetables

It would be cool if they could put a spinal tap into the back of your head (like in the Matrix) with valve so that you can open the valve when you need to release some pressure. Hmm...you are the engineer, think you can make one? It would have other uses too... LOL

    Further on RBC Capital's upgrade...

Not to belabor the point, but I thought this was worth pointing out...

This relates to my earlier post regarding RBC's upgrade from last Friday:

In a note to clients delivered on Friday, Mr. Sue upgraded shares of BlackBerry to “sector perform” and raised his price target on the stock to US$10. Mr. Sue’s upgrade comes exactly one week after he raised his price target on the stock to US$6.

Mr. Sue now expects tangible book value at $3.07 per share and net-case (sic) of $2.88 per share in 12 months.
So, what had been said a week earlier, upon upgrading BBRY from $5 to $6?

“While the environment remains very difficult and near-term results aren’t encouraging, we believe investors will now give management the benefit of the doubt in the near-term that BlackBerry may stabilize its business and reduce cash burn,” Mr. Sue told clients.

The analyst estimates BlackBerry will have net cash of US$1.50 per share in two year, up from a prior forecast of US50.
It should be interesting to see what other analysts come up with in the coming weeks. Seems to me we have slowly started to notice a change in the media's portrayal of BBRY's situation. Hope it keeps up and analysts come around as well... and that JC and his team press on with some regularly announced hard news, which should help sustain the SP.

    Hi all:

Here are my updated BBRY charts. On both the daily and 30 minute chart, it appears that we may have a parallel channel, which started on the December 2013 ER. So far, the first part of this parallel channel is formed with the ascending triangle formation as mentioned on 1/6/2014. It turned out that the formation was confirmed, and resulted in the pop to the $8 range. This also resulted in MA20 crossing MA50. In addition, the DMI shows that selling pressure is minimal.

The second part of the parallel channel suggests a possible pennant formation. It is, usually, a continuation signal. The top of the pennant is formed with the two highs on 1/8 and 1/10. If this pennant formation is confirmed with a break out above $9.12, then the next thing to break is $9.73. Afterward, we could see BBRY trading above $10. Should the parallel channel, and pennant formation be true, then the resolution of this pennant is around 1/15 and 1/16. Overall, the combined pattern inside this parallel channel is a possible formation of a bull flag. This is as bullish as BBRY has been for almost half a year.

The thing to consider, as Morgan mentioned, is that the SP is pretty much in overbought range. When it dips, I think, the support prices are at $8.5x (the low of the pennant formation), $8.4x (the low of the parallel channel), and $7.29 (based on MA20, should there be any media shenanigan about BBRY).

A minor observation on the daily chart is the volume spikes. Each of these volume spikes occurred on ER, and news release, and it has a pretty consistent interval. If this interval occurs for the 6th time, then I think, it would be around the end of January and first week of February. All I can guess is the 1 year anniversary of BB10.

I hope, JC maintains the momentum of the company, and the news release. There are 107 million shorts left to cover.

    Hi Jake:

Yes, I do, however, I believe, there are buying activities from new and existing shareholders too. Between 12/13 - 12/31, there were over 300 million shares traded, in which only 36 million shorts covered. We'll see how many of the 107 million shorts left will cover in the next report. At the moment, BBRY is very close to overbought based on RSI (76), and stoch. RSI (98). However, overbought does not always mean that the main uptrend is done. It applies the same to oversold, which many of us, BBRY shareholders, experienced with much patience.
