This applies to me too. I work more than 10 hours a day in the lab, lecture hall, conferences, etc. I don't get to talk to 'normal' people often enough. Holding a nice conversation with people outside my field is hard for me. So, on the weekends I would walk around my neighborhood and greet people "yo, what hanging dude?" They looked at me strangely because they knew that I am a professor (stereotyping). But when the chitchat starts, I struggle to hang on. One time a neighbor asked "what exactly are you working on?" After 10 mins of me yapping away, he looked over to his wife and said 'Liz, you got a BS in chemistry, do you understand what he is saying?" She tried to brushed him off and embarrassingly shuck her head. At that point I stopped and said "basically, I am trying to find a way to slow or stop our brain from decaying as we get old."

I struggle to talk with my team (mostly PhD students and Postdocs) too, so I use a lot of diagrams, imagery, metaphors, etc., ( such as the Viagra cartoon I posted here) but it's tough...
Hahahahaha, damm I knew it, hey CJ, lets take this Doc for an evening drive and teach him some social skills.
Potential viagra customers become "normal" people my friend thats why they like "long long very long" walks and some times they stand inline on a day like today LoL.
When I say I love this thread, i mean that the crowed we have here is just perfect along with the ignore button powers.

I am Canadian, but I am working in the US. Always wanted to move back to Canada, but the government funding is too small to keep my lab running there. Hopefully one day...

I said, MY observations and my circle of people. Moreover, people working for Apple, ebay, yahoo, etc doesn't necessary mean that they know or care about technology. There are about 10,000 people working here (a medical school), I would say less than a few hundred knows the medicine that they take (even most doctors don't know).

Edit: do you know technology? Tell me what kind of technology (both hardware and software) in the newest iPhone 5S that are more technologically advanced than BB's newest phone Z30.
LOL, how about intel/brcm/mrvl? a team of 10+ intc empls worked with me in the last 5 years, and I personally know at least 5 mrvl empls.

If people from those companies do not know technology, then I do not know who does.

So I just saw on the news this kid who just got his iPhone and this is what he had to say...

"I just make my official last call on my iPhone5 and now can't wait to get home and make some calls on my 5s".

Really? lol It reminds me of when I was a kid on got a new pair of shoes. I swore I could run faster and nobody, I mean nobody, could tell me different.

Don't understand what the benchmarks show?

My numbers are bigger than yours. Something like that.

Edit: I understand benchmarks, but don't see the point when you are comparing different OS, different UI, different apps.

I'm in it at lower levels, I don't care at all about earnings, nothing there for me. I'm only interested in two events, the FDA will pass judgment on their Phase III submission in October and their current studies. They have a killer pipeline, have you seen one like this before; and, they have the best research/cost program out there. If the FDA approves of their Phase III, they are profitable and cash rich.

I normally don't quote anything from SeekingAphla but this article is a good one:

pSivida Corp. (PSDV): A Closer Look At PSivida's Pipeline [Pfizer Inc.] - Seeking Alpha

Invest at your own risk, thinking in mind that October is an important month for this play.
I cringed when I read this. I think I'll opt for the eye injection every 3 years, thank you very much.

The convenience offered by Iluvien, an eye injection once every 3 years, is vastly better than that offered by the VEGF treatments (eye injection every 1-2 months)

The iPhone 5S is the fastest smartphone out there, crushes all android devices.

The Z30 is running a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and it cant even keep up.

AnandTech | The iPhone 5s Review
Funny I read that article and the A30 is not listed not even the Z10 is shown for a comparison. So how can you claim the A30 can't keep up?
