Anybody else try the new Beta zone launch App? It's fantastic. Beats having to upgrade BBM Channels thru a laptop. Piece of cake, now.

I think Bilaal is on to something. Super fly seems all wired up and that only happens when a BlackBerry launch event is imminent. What can it be? BBM x? 10.2? Partnership?

It's a nice device. Speed ok, I prefer it's design, it's screen (proof that specs isn't everything), need some time to get used to the KB but it's consistent. Final result: if you're short on budget, go for it with some accessories (SD card) and enjoy !

Thanks for the reply, my Son took my z10, i love the device. Only thing i thought was different and getting use to was the screen. I am use to retina display now. I purchased mini ipad but returned it because didnt have that display. I wonder if q10 has any different display than z10 look wise? I dont care about the specks. Z10 is a great device otherwise. I still miss the buttons. Even though i know that a couple days of full use and eyes will get use to the different display. It is very hard to judge device at the store display with in a short period of time. morally i feel bad because, i like blackberry and i say i miss it but i am still dragging my feet getting a unit for my self and making excuses that i should check the z30 first etc. even though money is not an issue here. Plus reading all these blackberry haters making mad and pushing me towards blackberry more and more. Always been a rebel lol

That's cool Superfly. While you were typing your reply, I had added a sentence (middle paragraph) to the post you quoted clarifying my intent.

And no, I don't see myself as a an anti-establishment type with regards to authority. However this is somewhat correct because I do see myself as a skeptic, a self-description I've volunteered a few times in the past. I do like to question pseudoscience, religion, alternative medicine, fanboy beliefs and things of that nature.
Thanks for trying to save this Not-a-Doomsday Sekt, because there really is too much optimism in the world i now all the sudden realize. Thanks again

Was a 9900er, thought Q10 OLED will rave me. In the meantime, learned to swipe words on the Z10 and had the opportunity to test the Q5. I'm at the end of my testing challenge (1 month!) and there is my verdict :
#1 Z10 on almost every aspects
#2 Q5, the challenger won by its curve-like approach with its BB10 uncompromized experience and very good price/usage ratio
#3 Q10. I'm sorry to write that (and that's a device I paid full price at launch) but it's not a device I'm picking by choice. Tomorrow is its last chance, I'll give it a final full day trial. I know I'll prefer it's KB... but it might not be enough.

What about q10 shortcuts? Cause right now most of my reading is done on the bigger screen tablet. I loved bolds keyboard short cuts. Being able to just start typing on q10 without opening up app? Plus ever since i left my keyboard, my replies are getting shorter and shorter. Cause on the keyboarded blackberry i didnt have to look at the phone/screen to type. It is a pain to type passwords on glass keyboard, specially now that my eye sight is not getting any better. These are questions that if i should wait for z30 or go for the q10. The only reason i left os7 device was that it was getting slower for some new apps. With bb10, i noticed that it just cuts through them. With html5 browser it solve many apps with just a short cut to the mobile site.

You appear to be confused about the relative security of communicating with iMessages compared to BBM messages.

iMessages are superior in this respect.

Note: This is only the case if both conversants are using iMessage (ie Apple phone, tablet or computer). If one is using a different type of device, iMessage sends SMS. In that case BBM is more secure.

I will teach you to fish instead of giving you the fish. Could help you out a lot in the future.
    1. Go to Google.com
    2. Enter: imessage BBM intercept
    3. Read the first link.

    You're welcome.

The 'commonly accepted knowledge' that BBMs are susceptible to a man-in-the-middle attack that uses a hacked device (good luck with BB10) to display someone else's PIN to read their messages doesn't apply to the new BBID-based security layer. Your assumption is relying on an outdated idea.

How else could iPhone and Android phones use secure BBMs? They certainly don't have a hard coded global encryption key or PINs.

    See the flaw there?

As for Apple's level of security, they've got a habit of transmitting plaintext user credentials. That's the sound of them failing security 101.

sigh.... you need to give someone your phone number in order to use iMessage. And I said anonymity, not security thank you. There are many times I prefer not to give out my phone number as a just in case method. If they turn out to be a little wacky, or I choose to no longer communicate, I delete from BBM and they are gone with no other recourse to contact me. That, good sir, is what I was getting at. Here's your fish, now go do something with it.

It is getting so tiring having Social Deviants spamming this thread 24/7!

I guess they don't have friends, personalities or lives for that matter.

Anyways. Try the 10.2.0.1433 leak on the Z10 with the unlocked Android runtime. Pretty impressive. Can't wait till they release 10.2. Marked improvement in the Z10.

I think you should ask the above in dedicated forum section... I'm afraid we're already far out of topic
The global answer is "you'll learn how to handle all this" with any BB10 device...

    No kidding that's my Q10 boss !

A Berkeley professor finds out just how much a certain type of high frequency trading costs the average investor.
FORTUNE Two recent studies of latency arbitrage suggest the stock-market structure needs a remodel if its ever going to stop billions of dollars going from unwitting investors into the pockets of high-speed trading firms.

Latency refers to the time it takes for a stock quote to get from an exchanges server to a traders screen. This varies from exchange to exchange and from trading computer to computer. Latency arbitrageurs take advantage of these inconsistencies.

Its well known that some high-frequency computer geeks at firms like Getco LLC take advantage of latency, just as its well known that some Blackjack-playing computer geeks count cards in Las Vegas casinos. But its never been clear how much this type of trading costs the little guy on Wall Street.
A study that reinforces a point I made earlier about how high frequency trading chews up the poor individual trader, even those who rely on pretty charts that are long out of date from the point of view of the algorithms.
