JL, thank you so much for your analysis. So you been following AMD for a while? What's your reason, if you invested in AMD as well hope three of us will make a little in the short term. ;-)
Similar to BBRY, it produces good products, but is an underdog compared to Intel.

time to take the gloves off. going back in pre-market to put a stink short bid in. bb showed their hand today with their bbm proposal. bb has no buyers. they are in desperate times. heinz wants his $55m. he does not have shareholders interests at heart. we all know this, bulls and bears. all the best everyone. to each their own. 100% bear for now. i, like many, are in this for the money. 'frig, my playbook is not even supported by bb anymore, that must count for something to keep me on the side of the bulls in this forum. right? lol. seriously, i have a playbook. i wonder if it will work when bb turns out the lights. i have no faith is this firm anymore. we saw this today. yes, i support bbry and i buy shares ... when i cover my short position. i hope all works out for everyone.
Man! I almost totally missed this post, as it is all faded (shows up grey on my screen).

Thanks, I have a PlayBook too; and a bold 9900, a Z10, and soon a Q5. Oh, and thinking about the Z30. That will be dependant on how my stock does.

Here is a chart to show a perspective in a 1 year period.

Hi Morgan; do you think the blue line in this chart represents the uptrend line on Abigail Doolittle's chart? Thank you.

    --
As you can see on this chart, the SP has created a movement that is similar to the one in the same period last year. See how it dropped, after June ER, downtrend, reverse (1), first top (2), second top (3), and downtrend (4). You can look at the RSI peaks and valleys as well, and see how they look quite familiar. Including the MACD. The good thing about this is that last year, the SP was at $6 - $7. Now, the SP is at $9 - $10. It appears that the SP is forming the 4th step. If history repeats itself, then September is going to look quite nice.

See no. 5, that's the peak in September that could happen. Afterward, can you see the drop in late September? Yes, that was ER again. And then in early October, it goes up again. But this is getting ahead of ourselves. Let's see what happens in the near term of going into mid September.

Thanks for this, but at the risk of sounding crude, the SP on Sept. ER will largely depend on whether or not TH will show proper reserve when he opens his mouth and bats go flying out.

    I hate bats.

That's the beauty of spinning it off into a separate, privately held (by BBRY) entity. When it comes time to sell it or joint venture with Prem or other investors, it is one easy, near package to be valued and dealt with, not assets held by BBRY to be unwound, or subject to public debate or shareholder vote, BBRY is just selling one asset, BBM, Inc shares.
I wish they do the same with enterprise division, create an infrastructure (NOC) one and modernize their vertical structure into a group of agile "3.0 enterprises"... each of them being capable of alliances/ JV with different partners. No nose pinching, each one in its domain. Examples (just illustrations) : Cisco for NOC, Sony and/or NOK for harware, MS for Entreprise...

If they properly cut the slices, I believe then that the lever effect can raise the "BlackBerry Holding" to a capitalistic level where "private" will not rhyme with weak anymore.
If they decide to stay on the market, then they can choose to be a financial holding and isolate each entity as many fuses...
    M. Heins, if this is your plan, I love it.
And if I'm only 30% right, some could consider buying some beers !

... my armchair is so big I can bath into. lol.

Disclosure: the above is pure speculation. I'm long and do not pretend being a specialist of anything. Do your homework and research prior investing, whatever the stock you choose.

Good morning, unbelievable! Oil is close to $112, up over $3 from Tuesday. What happened? This is going to put more fear into the stock markets and downward pressure on stocks! There is talk of Brent oil going to $150! Typed from my BB Playbook, which I am told is no longer supported by BB. Is this true? No more upgrades?
Usa, France, Great Britain, Australia (...) probably going on war with Syria with or without NATO grant and you wonder why Oil is fluctuating?
Now for th PlayBook, it will not receive BB10. But we don't know its exact future for now. I believe you'll get precious answers about it in the dedicated PlayBook forum section
As for investors, this will have near to zero impact whether or not BlackBerry upgrades, tweaks (M2M), replace or simply do nothing with PlayBook.

    Hi JLagoon!

I think you have a strong argument for this being the case. Here is the 11-year chart with your suggested trend line (yellow) and the worst case scenario in blue:

The BBRY Café. [Formerly: I support BBRY and I buy shares!]-bbry-11-year-chart-aug-28a-2013.jpg

The yellow line looks as though it makes contact for the period in question. The blue line is the extreme case where the market sells off 10% or more, and the stock takes a dip. If you look at the 1-year chart, we are above support at $ 8.90/shr, this is higher than Abigail's support level due to the configuration of her 11-year chart. I would use the 1-year chart to look for support here in any event and so our risk is $ 8.90/shr and improving over time! Nice work as always.

I doubt it considering this quote from the article:

Apparently this initiative is part of a bigger play by the government “to encourage the development of a unique local software ecosystem to reduce reliance on Western companies.”
Unless Canada became part of the republic of China, BB10 would be classified as them relying on Western software

    Hey! I've got an idea...

Since QNX seems to be the most valuable part of BB, why don't they create a spinoff called QNX Inc.

Actually, I think they should be re-branded to BlackBerry QNX or something like that.

First thought BlackBerry Automotive but QNX does more than cars.

Another slow day for business news:

Post/wire say BlackBerry mulls spinning off BBM

    2013-08-28 08:51 ET - In the News

The Financial Post reports in its Wednesday edition BlackBerry may spin off its messaging service into a separate unit, the Wall Street Journal said on Tuesday, quoting unnamed sources. A Reuters dispatch to the Post says the subsidiary would be called BBM Inc. Other sources told Reuters the company has reallocated internal resources and personnel to work exclusively on fine-tuning the BlackBerry Messenger service ahead of its launch on competitors' devices. However, there is no immediate plan to spin off the unit, one of the sources said, adding that BBM for Apple's iPhone and devices using Google's Android should be available to consumers in the next few weeks. The instant messaging service has about 60 million users who send billions of messages a day. BlackBerry has sought to add value to the service, even as the popularity of the company's own handsets shrinks, by adding video calling over WiFi and working to make the service available to users of other devices. The company has already announced plans for BBM Channels, which would allow advertisers to promote special deals or to target markets narrowly. BlackBerry is also considering making BBM available for desktop computers.
