So, let me see if I've got this straight...

Blackberry can 1) Sell itself, 2) Partner, 3) Go private, 4) Soldier on.

4) to Soldier on is path of least resistance, but slowest returns,
3) Privatization only provides shadows for the BoD to really mess around with things and answer to a select few,
2) Partnership requires BB to have something that somebody else wants,
1) Corporate takeover requires somebody else to want all the parts of BB.

The problem with 1) is that the only companies that would want all of BB are limited to those that do not already have a mobile business and want to enter the market. Anybody else would cut up the company and scrap the hardware (which would lower the offer and be rejected by shareholders). And of those companies that do not already have a mobile business, they would also have to be acceptable to the US and Canadian governments. That is a very slim number of companies.

It appears to me that it is almost impossible to sell BlackBerry because of its position in the secure/enterprise part of the market. That leaves options 3 and 4 (privatize or soldier on). An attempt to privatize will be made, but will fail and BB will be left to soldier on alone.

And we may not see the dip that you are referring to.

Five more minutes then all systems go. Funny thing is the only real thing this closing did was REDUCE overall stock volatility on other exchanges...kinda proves hedges and options players create havoc huh.

That would likely be a very risky move. I would never do that. The pros have had 3 hours to look at arbitrage and other opportunities. They WILL get heir trades executed first...
