Gartner suggests that Workspace is not a BlackBerry technology, they would be subcontracting to a third party, is that true?

    Cautions
BlackBerry has been more focused on policy management and the management and enablement of cross-platform enterprise mobility than on mobile content management. It still requires a third-party partner to provide extended Android support.
Combined with BlackBerry device support, cross-platform MDM can get very expensive and it does not have a cloud offering or partner.
BlackBerry uses third-party solutions to secure and containerize iOS and Android.

Something to be said for "buy and hold."
Yes, I admit it, I bought Facebook on IPO day (caught up in all the hype). Then, later the same day, I bought another 1000 shares as the price dropped during all the confusion of the delayed trading launch.
I was left holding a worthless investment, according to many in the discussion groups, that dropped more than 50%. Lots of encouragement to dump it.
Luckily, I ignored all the bad advice. However, I did not average down any further than IPO day (usually I do). It's been 14 months now and after finally doing what I thought it would do all along for mobile, Facebook is in danger of getting back to even. In another year, maybe it will double. Who knows?

I'm keeping all of my BlackBerry too. May even average down some more, depending upon how Facebook keeps doing.
I think this is what you call luck on the FB investment. If you went balls to the wall on the trade... it could have turned into something like Vonage. That was the last IPO I bought into thinking I understood the business only to watch is sheer off a clfif and never recover. I took my lumps and moved on.

    a) The report does not refer to WorkSpace by name
    b) The report came out before WorkSpace was released and is referring to support Blackberry offered for iOS and Android phones prior to WorkSpace, which was using extremely limited 'third-party solutions to secure and containerize iOS and Android.'
    c) Blackberry has addressed all those 'cautions' since the report came out in the form of Secure WorkSpace and BES10 in the Cloud.

Get your facts straight instead of spreading disinformation.

Same with me on Penn West and Pengrowth. Chased them both down to lower my average and now am big green on PW and light green to even on PG.

I bought a bunch of energy and Canadian bank stocks in 2009 when the sky was falling and everybody was doing the chicken little dance. They all turned a VERY BRIGHT GREEN! Contrary to all the "experts".

I am holding on BB. I can afford to and have the time to wait. Besides, it's only money.

Look Here the big picture (Especially at Wilder's RSI and Green Arrows) ---->

The RSI can go well below the "blue line" before beginning to go higher, it's not a promise that it will go lower, but what it tell: In the past it has done it.

In the Stock History tend to repeat... ;-)

p.s.: BTW If I see BBRY with an REAL better future & optimistic to trade long I can switch anytime.

Gains were good for awhile but then volatility took over, lost a 10K trade one day and decided to take gains and stop day trading. Your are very right though it takes guts to day trade this and discipline but it was just exhausting doing this on a regular basis. Don't need the added stress lol
Day Trading can be exhausting with High Volatility, those days I tend to go more with Swing Trading... No real stress for me but some peoples it's even too hard.

I can't imagine my "Old man" doing swing trading.. Hihihihihihihi I don't think he will have sleep like a log.. ;-)

Oh come on - a company exec is going to push the company line - even if he was going home ever night and sobbing into his pillow, the next day he will have his ****-eating grin - that's just the business. You also make a big assumption about how much people outside the top ranks actually know. When HP pulled the plug on WebOS, people inside the business unit found out via an earning call press release on the web!

Could this be a "buy on the rumour" kind of bump related to the Aug 1 Fairfax report?

Of course we all know the second part of that phrase is, "sell on the news".

Fairfax or Prem can't change fundamentals/sales/traction of BBRY the only thing he can do it's to say " I see the share soon over $55.00 (or any numbers) & we will make money"

    It's just to buy time, cause it's a fund and he can't come & say:"You know, I doubled down & I was wrong !!!"

When he will write off BBRY (take loss) he will have VERY good gain in others company in the fund, so this way the Faifax shareholders will look more at the profit than loss & they will forgive the BBRY loss. Don't forget also Prem have a BIG ego... ;-)

BlackBerry's U.S. Market Share Drops to 1% as Apple Soars

News to me is the OS sales share for Verizon (?second largest US carrier).

    0.1%...

It certainly explains why a timely BB10 10.1 update wasn't a high priority for them.

Bear in mind they still sell bbos phones as well so... Any estimates on how many actual phones they sold during this period? That way we can work out what 0.1 roughly equates to...

That's probably true, but I wonder if BB has ever been a 'hardware' company. To me, they made/make hardware to run their software. Even before the iPhone came along, there were many other QWERTY devices on the market but I think that most people (myself included) chose BB for the software instead of for the hardware (although BB hardware was better).
People (myself included) buy Apple products for the hardware design and ease of use. I guess people buy Samsung for the specs. So I think that BB really has to rely on its software as the differentiating factor. IMO, they have that with BB10 and BBM. And it's probably fine to keep making their own hardware while opening up to other manufacturers. I am not an expert in this area so I might be wrong, but I really don't see anything at present that can compete with BB10, BES 10, and BBM in terms of functionality and security. Apple still win in hardware design and manufacturing perfection.
They certainly did have a profitable hardware business for quite a while.

Its IPO price was $80. It was over $100 the next day or within a week. Something like that. It's well above that now.

He Lies, like Thor told "Sales of Phone are better tahn any expectation...bla bla bla"

So I Know it's false and the Worst part is that YOU know that he lie.

Pretty sure he said sale were better than their internal expectations.

Being that it was the best selling first full quarter for a new platform this is quite possible.

Having said that, as has been trumpeted over and over, Thor managed WS expectations poorly.
