Tried to get a better expectation on MDM revenue potential from fortune 500 companies.

    Here are my assumptions:
    1) 60% of fortune 500 companies are testing BES 10 in house.
    2) 50% of those comapnies will adopt BES 10
    3) Due to large orders, $100/device per year will not happen. Assuming $70 per device.
    4) Assuming 1.9% of employees will have an MDM enabled device. (went through the top 100 of fortune 500 to determine this through estiamtes)

    Employee count:
    total in fortune 500: 26,404,782
    60% of that: 15,842,869 employees
    50% of that: 7,921,434 employees
    1.9% of that is:150,507

BBRY gets $70 for each user per year: 150,507*$70 = $10,535,508

    NOTE:
Some companies will have 0.5% of employees and some will have 5%. I think finance companies will be heavy adopters. Defense companies like GD will be 0%.

    EDIT:
    Fixed

And really, what is BBRY's plan here?

I have issues with many of your assumptions, but the last statement completely puzzles me. Why would a defense company like GD (I assume that's General Dynamics) have no employees with secure phones needing proper device management?

Just a reminder to everyone that Fortune 500 companies aren't the only companies in the world. They are only the top companies in the USA, and do not include government agencies at local, rgional and national levels.

Not trying to be argumentative, F500 co's are important and an excellent indication of BES10 adoption rates. I just don't want everyone to get too focused and think that is all there is.

Because I work there and there is zero chance they would ever transmit classified data over lines that are not controlled point to point by them. They would never trust Verizon. GD would rather be inefficient and charge the government more than save the government money at risk of leaking secret data.

I'm trying to figure all this out. So your input is appreciated.

I'll need to bake that into estimates. What percent would be government though? 5%? I'd also need a grasp on risk. what are the chances that BBRY gets 0% of that segment?

I kept chugging along looking at smaller company statistics. I now think BES revenue potential is at $14 million or so. Probably more though since the MDM market is supposed to increase. Those big companies (300 of the Fortune 500) make smaller firms (17,700 of them) insignificant. At best, I'd estimate $20 million in BES revenues.

Keep in mind that MDM is about a $1 billion business. If BBRY gets 10% of it, that's still only $100 million in revenues. That is nothing when trying to figure out how BBRY gets to Prem's $40/share number. BBRY needs to control more along the lines of 50% of the MDM market. To be frank, they might need to acquire one or two of the leading competitors before they get to big.

More bad news. If BBRY gets 33% of the BES market in the USA when it is 66% mature), that represents about $50 million in revenues. The only good news is that they might get 33% of the market in Canada, the UK, India, etc ....

i knew some canadians that got burned badly on NORTEL and JDSU. they let their silly nationalism, pride, and home country bias cloud their judgment. i think i see a lot of canadians in this thread. be careful of making the same mistake.
Good for you. JDS Uniphase helped pay for my university tuition. I may have only made 4 or 5 grand off them but I graduated 7 yrs of university with 2 degrees and virtually no student loans. Large part of that was thanks to JDS and a few others (like CIBC).

So ya. You Let your silly money be invested how you want and I'll let my silly PATRIATISM cloud my judgement how I want.

So take your silly nationalism, pride and home country biases and keep them to yourself.

Mmmm.. hard to say. Being in Canada I tend to see more BlackBerry than average. Police, province, federal government, medical, etc.

Agreed. But most of the BlackBerrys I see are corporate ( as u said). Wish saw more in hands of friends here in Alberta. Hopefully once the gov and large corporations start issuing Z10s and A10s the avg consumers will start buying them too. Expecting this due to word of mouth from the gov / corporate users. Just takes a little time.......

Curious of how easy it is to download and install BES10 as Joe Blow home user to determine how that 18,000 BES 10 trial download number could be effected (AKA: bull****). So, I registered as a fortune 500 sized company and off I go!

The first note of interest is that it appears to be a shipped disk, not an internet download. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. Probably bad for business but good for "installed" metrics.

Edit: got an email with download link.
