Optimal Set-up For BlackBerry Short Squeeze
Because the bears low-balled the BB10 May volume far below 3 M units a few months ago, BBRY is in the position to declare victory if it ships more than 3.5 M units. More than 4 M units would count as somethig of a triumph. This early summer is particularly soft for Apples iPhone, which started suffering from tepid unit growth already in the March quarter. That will give BlackBerry some leeway with operators who may not be sold on the long-term success of the brand, but are willing to try something new to jumpstart sluggish foot traffic.

Everything is in place for BlackBerry to deliver a vicious kick to Wall Street bears. And the company has not been above picking and choosing the very best set of new statistics when it senses its critics are on the back foot. It is quite possible the CEO will deliver some conversion statistics showing that a substantial chunk of new BB10 buyers came from Android and feature phone camps. That could well help the company to mask the weaker elements of the May report.

Just so we're all prepared for what may happen tomorrow...

Firstly, I assume we all know what a shart is (just in case due to the international audience, it's when you thought it was going to be a fart, but, it wasn't)

So, what's the difference between a shart and a shart-squeeze?

Well, both start with at least a little squeeze.
A shart is what happens to your shorts. A shart-squeeze is what may happen to our shorts.
Neither is really expected. If you expected it, you wouldn't short (or shart).
Both produce messy results (for the shorts, and, well, for your shorts if you're wearing them).
Both involve some kind of a cover (or cover up).

So, do I expect it will happen tomorrow - No, but that's covered by the definition.

Now, if we do get great results tomorrow, along with an unexpected announcement...
I just might shart myself, but, I'll never go short on BlackBerry.

I know it is just a stupid photoshop pic for levity.... but it is also 100% real. It is TSLA. Beware shorts! If you let this get out of control and it gets to $25 or $30... that graph is your future!

We might have our bear raid but try to buy some Call Options on that drop! Boy are they expensive! I think someone is shopping for some leverage at these low prices! LOL

We'll be going right back up here. In less time then it takes to review your soft porn collection, this stock will be GREEN! (Maybe not in every case with some of you)
    LOL.

Hi Morgan; I wish, I bought some shares of IAG yesterday. It is up 7.32% today!

BBRY is forming a handle, so it has to drop. I estimate $14.50 range for the low of the day, and then close around $14.75.

Three nuns walk into a bar...

They order a bottle of whiskey. Bartender says, "I can't give you whiskey, you're nuns!"
First nun says, "Oh, you don't understand. It's for medicinal purposes, our Mother Superior has constipation and this will help her."
So the bartender gives them the bottle of whiskey.
End of the day as he is closing the bar, he hears a laughter out back.
It's the three nuns, and they are roaring drunk in the alley, falling over and laughing.
Bartender is shocked, "I thought this was for your Mother Superior for medicinal use, for her constipation."
"Oh don't worry," the first nun replies, "when she sees us in this condition, she will sh!t!!"

    bigbbrybeliever,

You are so right, the June 28th options are at a premium and up on the day and the July 5th are the same. I feel like we are down here so that more calls can be purchased and I look for the stock to firm later today. It is rare that the calls are up will the underlying security is down, good spot! Even the deep in the money calls are at a heck of a premium.
Morgan, care to take a look at how the premiums look for July 20 vs Oct @ the 14ish strike? Maybe I will swap out 1/3 for Jan '13, 1/3 for Oct, and leave the rest with July. Any insights?

I think I need to swap out the July 20 for Oct this afternoon to take some risk off the table. Last week I swapped out Jan '14 for July and that worked. I don't want to be greedy. Still have a good amoount of common stock on BB.to too which is not gonna be touched.

I just bought some more at $ 14.66/shr so I would like to think that is near the bottom!

Plenty of action today and it isn't over yet. I think we have seen the bottom here.

We ALL could be wrong but it looks like BBRY has grown some "legs" and is fighting off what used to be a huge meal for the bears!

I am impressed to see BBRY do this!
I think the big bulls were complicit in those bear attacks...letting them happen so they could pick up more on the cheap. This close to the ER they are adding and don't have time to play along.

I can't tell you what's best for you, the spread on those options (July/Oct) is $ .70/shr for the $ 14.00's (US). The premium on the July $ 14.00's are crazy high here and if the news is neutral, that's a big loss. We all agree that the Q2 numbers are the ones that include the Q10 , Z10 and Q5 along with much more interest in the A10. We would also learn more about the BES10 migration so there is plenty happening down the road. You will carry all of that premium in the Oct $ 14.00's if our news is positive tomorrow so it makes good sense! Let me know what you decide.

Motorola's AirDefense Services Platform v9.0 (ADSP v9.0) was added by DISA to the Unified Capabilities-Approved Products List (UC-APL), which identifies equipment that is certified to be compliant with the Defense Department's security and interoperability standards. AirDefense features a wireless intrusion detection solution (WIDS) that identifies and prohibits unauthorized users and devices from connecting to a wireless network, regardless of its manufacturer.

Still waiting for the current list containing all of what DoD has approved to use within the agency....

Going to miss the fun once again, damn Tokyo time. It's almost 10pm here and I have to go out and see some models, sumo wrestlers, J-Pop singers, and so on. However, I have decided to postpone my Friday night which is when BB announces their Q1 results... Man, it better be worth it! If we close above 16 on the TSX today I will be pleased.

Cheers! I'm dedicating my drinks to this thread!

Morgan - I appreciate you taking the time to look for me on this specific request - especially knowing you were an options specialist! At the $100 party drinks are on me (well, I'm sure drinks will be on everyone for you, as long as your wife allows it! At least some ??

Agree that if premiums for the July 20 calls are extended perhaps too high this close to the ER, makes sense to provide that nice buffer til after Sept ER. I think that one will be a huge blow out! So...I will take all July calls off the table, and put them into Oct, instead of 1/3 July 1/3 Oct 1/3 Jan. Seems like a fair compromise. I already a wee bit of $20 Jan '14s calls I think they were $1 last I looked....let's squeeze them shorts before that!! Let's ride this SP up a bit from here today so I can capitalize on the higher multiple before I swap.....go BULLS! Let's close as $14.97
