Sadly that's last week's news yet I've seen it on 3 different pages today. Also, ZDNet and Cnet both had this out in early morning so it won't, or shouldn't, have any effect on what we're seeing here.

Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) ramped mid-day on reports from the FT that Huawei would consider buying the company as it seeks to become the world's leading smartphone maker.

"We are considering these sorts of acquisitions; maybe the combination has some synergies but depends on the willingness of Nokia. We are open-minded," Richard Yu, chairman of Huawei's consumer business group, told the FT.

    More rbc info

We believe channel inventory may have bottomed at 1-2 weeks and expect sell-in to match or exceed sell-through over the next year as BlackBerry replenishes depleted channels. In aggregate, we see BB10 sell-through increasing as distribution expands. BB10 demand appears to be mixed by region; Canada, the U.K. and the Middle East are seeing the strongest BB10 sell-through. For example, the Q10 is currently #5 and the Z10 is #8 on UK Mobile’s top 10 list. The U.S., where BlackBerry has a diminished consumer presence, is seeing slower sell-through. We believe U.S. sell-through may increase with enterprise demand following the rollout of BES10 by IT depts.

Sue’s new estimates bring him to an estimate for last quarter of $3.5 billion in revenue and 9 cents profit per share versus a prior estimate for $3.1 billion and a 10-cent loss. For the full fiscal year ending next February, he models $13.5 billion in revenue and a 35-cent profit per share versus $11.7 billion and a 4-cent loss previously.

Sue is still skeptical of the longer-term trajectory of the stock, despite what may be imminent short covering:

With 32% of shares short and trading at just 0.4x EV/S valuation, BlackBerry shares may see a short covering rally on better than expected near-term profitability and BB10 channel fill. Beyond near-term positives, we’re looking for stabilization of BlackBerry’s subscriber base and uptake of new enterprise and consumer services to offset the shift away from its mandatory services model. Competition remains intense and BlackBerry has a significantly diminished market presence with just 3% share, down from 20% at its peak.
