Worth a 10 cent spike, not bad. Let's see how we monetize it, but I like it.

I bought some more shares at $15.70, feeling pretty good about it, even if the current price is marginally lower.

the 10:30 dip is an odd thing, especially days like today where we are seeing not just 1 or 2 good bits of info or news, but a STACK.

    BB OS 10.1 available
BB Q5 upcoming (from what i read, looks like this is releasing in 2nd world countries before places like canada/UK/USA, is that right?)
120,000 apps now (android boasts a little over 750,000)

Yep.... need to MONETIZE that. $5 app purchase would still bring people on board! And that would be 100s of MILLIONS$$
    Exactly...sell the service.

I'm stunned.....not as stunned as the Leafs loss last night, but stunned non the less.

Wonder if they will monetize some parts of the BBM experience for other platforms?

The free charge makes the most sense. Right now they need user buy in. Especially with the announcement of BBM channels. The goal here is to get brands to buy into the experience and establish channels. Its a trickle affect. What needs to happen now is the release of multi-platform BBM, the acceptance and adoption of BBM channels by brand managers across several industries.

The potential here is huge. Think long term guys.

I do not think that the average Apple user, or Android user, would be willing to pay for BBM

I'm thinking its only free until Video launches - then they charge - but maybe $0.99 - max... Can't get $5 for an app that is simply cross-platform messaging.

For sure they would. Whatsapp is second tier. Ex BB users are getting by with it but EVERYONE misses BBM they are just living without it. $5 paid app easy - guaranteed.

BBM cross platform + BBM channels ((companies creating their own channels) + BBM money??? = They are creating something big?

Exactly. I think the base functionality needs to be free to get buy in. You can them monetize options or add ons (much like skype does)

Maybe you are right. I am old and email and text messages do more than enough for me. Not much in the social networking thing except for business.

Looking at BBRY, the investors are NOT impressed!

Exactly if BBM is better, I might get my family to switch over if it is free, otherwise people aren't going to move over as they already have good, free options. There are possibilities here, BBRY just needs to get them in first and then figure out a good way to monetize it.

I must say, I have had a BB device for many years and never once used BBM. Sad but true.

You guys aren't seeing the big picture.

The idea here is not because BBM is so highly demanded. BBRY is trying to make BBM Channels the next big social media tool.

Instagram is a FREE app that sold for $1B. That's 1/8th BBRY's market share for an App. If BBM and BBM Channels gets to become the next great social media App, well think of that benefit for a second.

They will monetize it by growing it into something big. It's basically trying to be the hybrid Twitter/LinkedIn/Instagram (in the future i'm sure).

They want to get people to get BBM, grow BBM Channels, create an App the people NEED. That is BIG if it all works out. BlackBerry doesn't have anything people say I NEED (minus the keyboard).
