And, just so I can say "I told you so", the natural evolution of this whole paradigm shift that BlackBerry is creating will require them to rent/launch 1or more satellites to support their devices when out of cell range. That may be a few quarters away however.

    Defence Minister MacKay thinks alike.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay announces new hours for rescue crews, money for satellites to improve Canada's search-and-rescue network.

Hopefully your wife won't have a laundry list waiting for you when you get home and you can kick back and enjoy a cold one on the patio. My oldest is having his first communion on Sat. so my better half is making me jump through hoops getting the house ready for the party.
Yep, been there with my two daughters a few years back. Recommendation, act enthusiastic as you prepare for the party and tapping into the juice as you go. Haha.

Can these devices work on satellite or would this necessitate the development of satellite devices?
Well not now, but I was thinking more long term, and for vehicles and enterprise use.

Great news. This should eventually lead to a procurement of BlackBerry's. They wouldn't test it if they were not interested.

Great news to end the night. Let's hope it's not lost as we end another great week of ups and downs...with hopefully an upside for tomorrow night.

In my haste to get out of the office early, I forgot to relay some news I got in one of my meetings. Seems my organization currently has just over 1600 BlackBerry Bold 9930s out in use and the contract renewal is next year. Our big boss wants the new BlackBerry so our logistics officer will order a combination of devices. Pretty cool.

    Two points:

Right now its not about devices sold its all about perception which is why this announcement is so good.

When they do order some devices they would be managed by Bes10 wouldnt they? Why then wouldnt they want those same servers to manage to ios and android devices to save costs and unify the mdm operations ?

Q10 cameo, Z10 on a shopping cart... I predict a no-nonsense partnership between BBRY and Cisco to build this mobile computing "internet of things". $5 says they'll announce something together at or before BlackBerry Live.
