seems like a rumour that Dan Loeb is buying in? Could scare some shorts
He is a bit of an activist owner. Could be interesting if he does buy in and tries to get a Board seat. Prem has been 100% supportive which is definitely not DL's style. He will probably want some big changes and I am not sure if that would help or hurt.

Sorry, but that's not recent. That's from a rumour back in February, adds nothing to today's discussion and spike. No news from today.

If it also would take out $14.20 it could be a quick run up to $16

I was simply stating it led to the spike - many people referred to it in the twittersphere. To say it added nothing is to be quite miss-informed. No one ever confirmed their stake back then, only their opinion. Their stake could very well about to be disclosed.

Unfortunately it's having a hard time holding $14 so not sure $14.20 is in the cards for today. Would be nice though.

Maybe not today but still positive that we just broke that 1 month falling trendline, would say we are back to neutral now and if above 14.20 it immediately looks very positive

The 7 minutes trading data between 11:35 AM and 11.42 AM shows that someone bought almost 2.5 million shares from the open market.
Who is the someone, the shorter (covering) or new long?

So with their ER coming out tomorrow does anyone think that if it is either good or bad that it would also effect BBRY stock? For example selling off one to buy the other?

    Posted via CB10
It all depends on the interpretation and relationship between the Apple's earning and BBRY.
Version #1: Apple ER is bad = "BBRY took Apple's share so it is very good news for BBRY"; "If Apple's ER is good = "The general smartphone market is very strong and BBRY is benefiting from such strong smartphone market, so it is a good news for BBRY."

Version #2: You can fill the language here. :-)

That would be great, but I seriously doubt that will happen here absent some big news event. Here's hoping....

Anybody even notice that HTC launched the One in the US? Where are the reporters looking for lineups? I thought this phone was the next big thing??

I guess there isn't much of an expectation. BBRY was/is a prime target by the media because it really does offer the promise of a turnaround (or failure in the minds of some) and so it's probably a more lucrative headline to try and sell.

    Just my thoughts.

Globe says even RIM starting to look good next to Apple
    2013-04-22 08:58 ET - In the News

The Globe and Mail reports in its Monday edition the tech industry's once-unstoppable behemoth is suddenly facing an unfamiliar sentiment: pessimism. The Globe's Omar El Akkad writes Apple announces its second fiscal quarter earnings on Tuesday. Analysts expect an 8-per-cent increase in quarterly revenue, to more than $42-billion, and a 17-per-cent decrease in profit (all figures U.S.). The company has suffered a rough winter. Last September, the company's shares hit a high of $700. But since that time, the company's share price has been in a tailspin, as investors began losing faith in Apple's growth prospects. Last week, its shares ended trading at about $390, the first time shares have dropped below the $400 mark since December, 2011. Apple has also uncharacteristically spent much of the year watching as rivals dominated the marketing spotlight in the mobile industry. The company will make its quarterly earnings announcement just as consumers anticipate the launch of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S4 and Research in Motion's Q10, which will likely become the best-selling physical-keyboard phone on the market. In addition, Facebook is now stepping into the industry, joining HTC to build Android phones.

We are having a nice day on light volume and no sign of the media bashers or shorts. Every since Heins put his foot down we have been trading normally. Here is a 5-year chart showing the sell-off and how little progress we have made so far. There is plenty of room for a major rally here. This is just the very beginning of a major run in 2013.

The BBRY Café. [Formerly: I support BBRY and I buy shares!]-rim-april-22b-2013-chart.jpg

Our first big test is the 50-dma, from there it is smooth sailing until we hit $ 16.00/shr. GL

Shhhhhhh. Don't tell people about balance sheets. Survival only depends on how cool the HTC one is. It can not burn cash if it is cool...
