I would agree that the US has become very protectionist this past decade and it's not getting better. However, I can't agree that it's worst than China.

The facts remain that the shorts might be able to push it down an additional $2 - maximum $4 (to a stockprice of $10) if they lose their heads completely, the floor in the stock has improved even more after todays earnings but you never know how the shorts will act when they are stuck in this lousy and huge position. At the same time there is a potential upside of at least $15 (to a $30 stock) , add in the massive short sqeeze and it might end up even at a price of $40-50.

The risk/reward from the short side is so bad it is amazing that they keep fighting this war that they at this point are losing bigtime.

This stock is just a money maker for the brokers & option writers. Plain and simple; Brokers are just riding this gravey train until it reaches the destination; until there is undeniable proof that BB10 is somewhat mainstream and has a strong base (76 million doesn't count, because that is BB6/7, not BB10), they will keep milking this sucker.

Just like Apple - people knew about a year or so prior to the recent doozie that Apple will not have anything breathtaking to support $1000 SP but it kept on pushing it.

Stocks runs up after a show has started; we are betting that the show is about to begin.
Paitience people, it's not a slot machine. Go buy some popcorn & gummies and be patient. The show WILL start, and it's going to be a summer blockbuster!

I will respectfully, vehemently disagree with that. The complaint here is about less than 1% of the so called 1%. We have massive deregulation in everything to the point many want more regulation (sound familiar?). 99.99% of the American market is open and free. We can do a lot of things better here including regulating that very small contingent of Wall Street clowns, get universal health care, and a few other major things done, but saying China's markets are more free and open than the US seems to me to be hyperbole.

Off to play with my new z10. Great stuff today, wish the longs did better, and the shorts got punished, but all is all, a nice ER and a good future base to build off for those who believe.

We won't know how many "borrowed shares" were shorted today until that number is made publically available. We do know that plenty of shares are sold without borrowing from a brokerage house and it is that group that I'm referring to. They short the shares in one account, and before they settle the trade, they transfer them to another account. The movement of blocks of stock between accounts keeps the short position off the books. They can do this for months at a time. If they could borrow the stock from a brokerage and short "legally", I'm all for that. But selling stock that you can't borrow from a long shareholder is criminal. This has to stop.
