Investors are referring to "naked selling" and you can bet that number is through the roof and illegal. Today the short position must be 20 million shares higher. It does work though.
Thanks. I just wonder if the short volume is just too large that it wouldn't have drawn the SEC's attention by now. I know its not absolutely illegal, but it is a regulated activity. Honestly interested in your thoughts on this and how prevalent it is as an intellectual matter and discussion. I do hate shorts. Thanks.

What happened to "long and hard!"? haha.

We all know that this ER what brilliant and it's there on the 10-Q, so one way to look at this is that we've built a stronger spring. The shorts have to push a little harder and it doesn't change the fact that the spring is stronger.

For short term and day trades, its a pain in the ***. For medium term windows its nearly insignificant.

Let's look forward to the looming upgrades and have an amazing Easter weekend, its a beautiful sunny day here in Vancouver today

Alot of investor and big money pulled their money out of the US a long time. It's sickening how rigged the US markets have become. China is more of a free market then the US.
    Now that's funny!

Shorting should be illegal and the criminals know it. In 2009 when the stock markest was crashing they suspending all shorting of banks and other stocks. They themselves at the time said it distorts the market reality. How do you sell what you don't own? What the cramer manipulation video on youtube. They can manipulate the free markets and thus should be illegal.

the big manipulation brought the TSX price down to $14.45, and finished at $15.09.
hate to be the one who got scared, sold at $14.45, only to watch it rebound an hour later.

The SEC moved to stop the worst abuses. I am sure some still try to abuse the system. The bottom line is that it is NOT illegal. If people don't like the rules they have the choice to list or invest elsewhere. There are many intelligent people (esp v Cramer) on both sides of this issue, but many intelligent people do take the position that shorts help the market be more efficient and are ultimately price neutral.

Thanks for that. I was wondering how much shorting was going on today. Can you please elaborate on "naked selling" and "illegal". I'm still a little green around the ears.
We won't know how many "borrowed shares" were shorted today until that number is made publically available. We do know that plenty of shares are sold without borrowing from a brokerage house and it is that group that I'm referring to. They short the shares in one account, and before they settle the trade, they transfer them to another account. The movement of blocks of stock between accounts keeps the short position off the books. They can do this for months at a time. If they could borrow the stock from a brokerage and short "legally", I'm all for that. But selling stock that you can't borrow from a long shareholder is criminal. This has to stop.
