In fact, regarding SA, I believe the minus on BBOS can be directly linked to the BB10 arrival (means people switching from BBOS to BB10). Yet, you can't extrapolate with this and I don"t believe any stat is available for BB10 right now.
Okay I get it now. BB10 is not in the top 8 yet. It appears there was a huge spike in interest in BBOS. It would be amazing if BBOS can stay in the top 8 long enough to have the BB10 reach the top 8. "BlackBerry has 2 operating systems in the top 8". Now that would be a headline.

I'd be super surprised if it did. It hasn't been that low since early January and would require some serious bad news to get there again.

$14 will be lucky already IMHO (this is only an opinion, not any kind of advice).

Two great interviews from RIM's senior execs a few months ago, which actually felt like an eternity now given all the action and attention in the worldwide releases of Z10. Sorry if it has been posted earlier. Just thought there would be some merits in knowing some of the things mentioned which others may have missed. Also some good insights on where TH wants to take this company. I apologize for the long post. I needed some relaxation..

First interview was with Sebastian Marineua, ( Senior VP of BB OS ) where he differentiates QNX against Android ( Linux ) on security and the size of codes behind each OSes. You'll also now realize why in tests of functionality ( browsing to be exact ) the Z10 vs. S3 were at par, given the dual core vs. quad core disadvantage. Of course Z10 is a newer and faster processor ( 1.8 vs. 1.4 ) but S3 should win hands down here, but it did not. And you can almost guess why the S4 is Octacore ( although Quad in the US version I heard..) It would be interesting to see how the Z10 would stack up against the released version of S4. Sebastian also mentioned how tough it is to secure Andriod because of the number of codes behind the OS. Here's the best part of the interview.
[QNX has stood the test of time and it’s microkernel is easy to understand. ”If you look at the microkernel architecture, the microkernel is the only trusted component in the system,” he explains. “It’s the one thing that can never fail and it gets to control access. In the case of our microkernel it’s about 100,000 lines of code, give or take ten thousand and that’s the core code that has to be absolutely bullet proof. If you look at something like Linux, I don’t know what it’s up to today but it was up to 14 million lines six months ago. That code all runs in privileged space and one line in that can take down the whole system or be the vulnerability that people exploit. It’s very difficult to test to prove that that amount of code is secure and bug free.”

RIM Didn't Rewrite QNX Operating System for BlackBerry 10 - N4BB

Second interview was with TH by Arthur Goldstock on BB's plans on the African and Asian market and execution in trying to regain back the US consumers. They still have a commanding lead in the Fortune 500 businesses, according to TH and he talks about their dealings with US carriers. What caught my attention is to where he wants take this company and of course this is only possible because of their Global Network Layer, their most important asset and Blackberry's "secret weapon" . Again I believe here's the best part of the interview.

AG: That data layer across most networks globally sounds like an incredible strategic asset – BlackBerry’s secret weapon. How do you plan to leverage it?
TH (nodding vigorously): This is the secure, reliable connectivity layer for mobile computing that sits on top of carrier networks. They can run their own services across it, but the secure layer on top of this, globally, will come from us.
Think of a car manufacturer that sells cars globally, and needs to address all in-car computers from a certain series, and get a message out, like ‘Put the car in the garage for the next 24 hours because we are giving it a big software update’. How many vehicle recalls do you see these days? Imagine the time and cost that can be saved if we can provide telemetry data from all these cars, on a globally connected system, and with the endpoints managed for reliability and security.
There is so much to do right now – it is overwhelming in terms of priorities. RIM needs to figure out where to be the enabler, and where to utilise our own servers. But the opportunity is huge: mobile computing, end-point management, API’s created to add sensors to devices, using the mobile data network for distribution – basically any vertical application where we think we have a play, and where we can use our push and compression services.

Smartphones and tablets part of it, but they are not the only purpose of the company.

How is Thor going to do this? Sounds easier said than done.

Is there something BlackBerry can leverage in order to achieve this objective? Or is the mobile market naturally converging into a mobile computing space?

Didn't realize this thread was here. I've been steadily buying BBRY from around $9.25 and I've accumulated close to 40000 shares so far. I've been trading profitably for over 7 years now and BBRY price action is acting a lot like other current big stocks that has taken a lot of beating in the past.

From the fundamental side, no debt, 2.9bil in cash, no more co - CEOs, notable enterprise pickups, marketing making waves (keepmoving project is truly moving - check out neil gaiman), the list goes on and on. But most importantly, with iOS stagnating and looking outdated and the GS4 disappointing (unnecessary octa core upgrade, useless gimmicks and minor screen upgrade), I strongly believe BB10 will take more market share from Apple and Samsung. Im surprised that non of the analysts that i track has talked about this. This is the basis of my thesis for investing in BBRY and I'm pleased that Blackberry has confirmed my analysis a while ago.

I hope more bears would push the price down so I can load up on more shares as I am extremely bullish about Blackberry.

Really think this could happen, to $13.00?? Yeah, I know their was something similar following the launch as it made it's way from the 18 mark down, and down....and down. But the ER is different. It'll be a sign that BBRY is the little engine "that could....and will" move forward and be successful. Or am I being naive?
Yes, it could go to 13 - just a few days ago, it *was* 13. If we have a *bad* earnings release it will go to 9 or 10. If we have an "ok" release - slightly belwo expectations, I could easily see 12. If we beat expectations... welll, then things will get interesting.

Remember this stock has a tendency to jump up or down 10-15% on any news. And 7-8% on no news at all...

Its a possibility, a small one. You have to take all the current information that we have right now and compare it to the expectation. With the expectation so low going into q4 ER, I think its a fairly safe bet to be long BBRY. However, if I am able to purchase a significantly more shares before ER till the point I go on margin, I will load up on some puts just to hedge my position.

The funny thing about BBRY is that 10 months ago there were about 53mil shares short. Now, even after the massive price run up in recent months, that number has tripled to more than 28% of the float. I believe that more and more people are being complacent, and its understandable given the beating that BBRY went through for 2 years straight. An average quarter could simply push the price significantly higher due to this.

I put a buy limit of 12.50 edit from 12 since the earnings report will come out. I'm thinking it will drop right before then, people will be profit taking before earnings in my opinion then shoot up after it comes after hours. Thoughts? Kind of relating this to apple earnings
