Generally, isn't a buyout favorable for the shareholders? If BB gets bought out wouldn't we get our shares carried over to the other company someway
You're assuming the buying corporation's shares were equal or higher to BBRY. What if a strong corporation bought Blackberry and their shares were at $6.89??

Depends on whether it's a forward or reverse splilt. In this case, it would probably be 2 for 1 or more. The value remains the same but it becomes more attactive for some investors when the share price "seems" more affordable

No value is created with a stock split. IMO.

Give me your slice of pizza and I will cut it in half and give it back to you. Happier?

value investors see it as a negative if anything.

    1) it does not effect the business model.
    2) stock splits are not free

At least you can resell the other half of the pizza and still enjoy a slice

    haha. touche.

Which does point out a potential advantage of increased liquidity I suppose. Easier to move a $200 share than a $400 share.

Advantage may go to brokerages as well if they are changing fees based on quantity of shares moved, rather than $ value.

But then people who want pizza but can't afford much can buy a half-slice of pizza at half-price!

It lowers the price, but dilutes the value of a share in so doing. It makes it more affordable for new investors - but since there's no new stock being issued, there's really no benefit to the company it seems to me. (That is, they're not attracting more people buying stocks from the company itself - just more people buying stocks from people who have already bought stocks.)

After the buyout there are several different scenarios 1) you can trade your shares for the shares of the new company 2) you will sell your shares for the buyout price.

The reason stock splits can be viewed as bullish, the lower price allows smaller investors access to it. Of course 1 share at 400 or 10 shares of 40 are exactly the same, but if I have 160 to invest - now I can buy a few shares. It's that kinda thing. It's why Buffet came up with Berkshire Minis :-)
