I only wish you could but they pulled the NUMBER #1 ad the blackberry ad. I think deep pockets started crying blackberry beat out everyone with ease.
Did you really think that ad was #1? Still hoping to get back to $14.95 myself.

is this another case of the stock opening at a high before sinking back down to its previous close?

Let's hope not, we are due for a good day and the sales in Canada and UK seem to be going well, so a bounce back could be in order here.

Well, what normally drives up a stock when it's in the news is the mom & pop investors who know nothing about trading. However, since RIMM just changed to BBRY today, they probably won't even be able to find the ticker! So who knows.

    I don't think Mom&Pop investors typically trade in pre-market.

No, I'm talking about what gives the additional momentum to prop up a stock. So, like you have this big event called the superbowl, and so everyone and their brother is now thinking whether or not they want to buy some RIMM. They have no investing ideas other than what has been injected into their heads for the last 12 hours. So they go and try to buy some RIMM, but it doesn't exist so they give up.

But if you don't think idiots control the price of a stock, then I will refer you to Facebook's IPO.

Yes, we were discussing the stock opening at a high, and if it would retreat or not. I'm talking about what's happening in pre-market right now. It has taken a $.75-$0.80 jump, and that's got nothing to do with Mom&Pop.

    Am I missing something?

RIMM and BBRY don't show up anything for me. Both bring me back to RIMM and no activity today (like it's a holiday or something).

I think some things will be wonky for the next few days as people are updating the ticker and even for the search engines to adjust to the ticker.

E.g. I used to be able to type RIMM into Google and it'll show me all the relevant stock sites, google finance, yahoo finance, and news. But right now the results are mixed.

Even Questrade hasn't sorted out everything out for placing orders. I tried placing an order to buy some calls
"The order was rejected. The exchange did not accept this order. Please modify your order and try again or contact Questrade's client services at 1.888.783.7866 for assistance. : This instrument doesn't exist "

Well, you don't need to worry about selling since the stock is just going to go up from here.
If you need to buy, then...well....guess you should have bought some last week at the low?

You get what you pay for.
