Nice bounce today for BBerry stock. This might be a positive reaction to the upcoming earnings that got leaked to the insiders. Let's hope that's true and we get out of this negative funk.

What does it tell you if a company comes out of the gate and on its first day has surpased blackberry s market cap 3 fold. It tells me Wall street has no faith in management, no faith in direction and to many tricks have been observed. They don't need to write about it, they just ignore you and everyone affiliated to you.

I thought Lazaridis and Watsa had enough shares between them to prevent such an action. They would need to hold in excess of 40% of the shares to stave off a hostile.

I’m pretty sure Lazaridis divested shares when 2013 buyout attempt failed.

They should compare notes with Blackberry on the viability of a third OS/ecosystem and how they were aggressively shunned from the market by Apple and Google. However, they do have the advantage of a huge domestic market that is xenophobic to a fault and would love to have a "real" Chinese phone. No matter that the central government is listening in to all your conversations for any signs of "cultural immorality".

I can only add that our current duopoly was gladly earned by every user who drank the steady stream of Kool Aid put out by the two tech giants and not should feel any distress when device choice is diminished while hardware and service prices keep rising.
