- Hey anyone know what Rudy Giuliani is up to recently, I thought he had some Security talks with Trump, etc. In the meantime some reading material:
Equifax data breach focuses Washington's attention on security of sensitive personal information - LA Times
“This debacle should be a wake-up call to both consumers and policymakers about the industry's broad reach,” Three House committees — Judiciary, Financial Services, and Energy and Commerce — plan to hold hearings in coming weeks. “This unprecedented data breach could impact tens of millions of Americans and raises serious questions about the security of our personal information online,” “It’s shameful that Equifax would take advantage of victims by forcing people to sign over their rights in order to get credit monitoring services they wouldn’t even need if Equifax hadn’t put them at risk in the first place,” Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) said last week.09-13-17 12:00 PMLike 3 - I like the UK's cautious approach given that lives would be at stake here. The area of responsibility is set, discouraging some cutting corners. Come up with a system that is right or you take full responsibility, including board of directors. Remember Audi's statement a few days ago, taking full responsibility when car is on L3 mode.
" It wants security to be part of the design process across every partner involved, even at the board of directors' level, and for companies to keep cars updated throughout their lifespans. UK officials also call for a "defence-in-depth" strategy that minimizes vulnerabilities (such as by walling off systems to limit the damage of a hack), and very limited use of personal data that gives you control over what the car transmits."

it's going to be the innocent that get hurt the worst, not the deep pocketed early adopters.
I friggin hope qnx is the choice for as many autonomous vehicles as possible and that they keep their security top notch.09-13-17 12:41 PMLike 4 - yeah whatever happened to that initiative that Rude Giuliani was put in charge of? Do you think BlackBerry meant CIBC was their buyer?
Morgan they stated TD, but because all this public attention, anything might be possible. It's worth a re-read on their statement. Here it is.

Too much reading in that document for this brain, I believe they are tied to TD Bank though so if there is something in all of that print that suggests they could use someone else, cool.
I also got the note on the financing for SPHS, still holding that one and buying every now and then.

Here is a quote from all that foreign language in my previous post.
"BlackBerry has entered into an automatic repurchase plan dated as of June 22, 2017 with TD Securities Inc."
And the clause in the statement.
"The actual number of shares to be purchased and the timing and pricing of any purchases under the share repurchase program will depend on future market conditions and upon potential alternative uses for cash resources. There is no assurance that any shares will be purchased under the share repurchase program and BlackBerry may elect to modify, suspend or discontinue the program at any time without prior notice."
Cheers mate and enjoy that cold one! Some day we might share one!

Thing hasn't worked for several weeks now. Time to call it.
If I may ask, what are people using for stock quotes on Android? Ideally I'm looking for an app with no ads and that worked similarly to how the Stocks app worked on BB10. That is, portfolio stored only on phone, no ads, no login required, etc. I don't mind paying for the app as long as it works and the price is reasonable. Thanks!

Once you create a login, it appears as though you can enter all your holdings etc.
Takes a bit of navigation to find the features but you can enter your share purchases and then see where you are at.09-14-17 05:43 AMLike 0 - OT: RIP BB10 Stocks app.

Halozyme Therapeutics - Halozyme Increases 2017 Financial Guidance
Halozyme Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: HALO), a biotechnology company developing novel oncology and drug-delivery therapies, today raised financial guidance for 2017 following the announcement of two new licensing agreements for its ENHANZE® drug-delivery technology.
Pending customary anti-trust review of its agreement with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Halozyme now expects 2017 financial results of:
- Net revenue of $245 million to $260 million, an increase of $130 million from the prior range of $115 million to $130 million, reflecting the portion of upfront payments from the new agreements expected to be recorded as revenue in 2017;
- Operating expenses of $240 million to $250 million, unchanged from prior guidance;
- Positive operating cash flow of $50 million to $60 million, an increase from the prior operating cash burn range of $75 million to $85 million; and
- Year-end cash balance of $380 million to $395 million, an increase of $135 million from the prior range of $245 million to $260 million, reflecting the total cash expected to be received as upfront payments from the new agreements.

"8. BLACKBERRY KEYONE
It's great to see BlackBerry devices appearing again on my best 10 lists. I've spent a few months with the BlackBerry KEYone and if I am going to spend a weekend away from a readily available power source, it is the phone to bring as it seems to last forever. The physical keyboard is fun to use and the device keeps getting the latest software updates before nearly every other smartphone.
The BlackBerry KEYone doesn't have all of the highest flagship specs found in other phones, but it is a very capable device with an excellent camera. The KEYone has a 4.5 inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, massive 3505 mAh battery, 12 megapixel rear camera, and fingerprint sensor built into the keyboard spacebar.
TCL is now making BlackBerry hardware and as I saw on the DTEK60 it is doing a fantastic job at providing monthly Android security updates, which is not something many Android manufacturers can say.
The BlackBerry KEYone is priced at $549, which is a reasonable price for this unique BlackBerry device, and a cool all black model just launched on AT&T last week.
Check out the Jason Cipriani's full review of the BlackBerry KEYone (7.0 rating)."09-14-17 05:46 PMLike 3 -
Enhanze is one amazing franchise for HALO. I understand they signed two agreements which are typically worth an up front cash payment of $ 20 - $ 30 MM each ... and then the real benefits begin. Past deals include the contractual ramping up of royalties well into the $ 100's of MM of bucks. If they held nothing else in their portfolio HALO would still make a fortune on Enhanze alone. So that's the obvious good news here.
I've mentioned numerous opinions about this company in the past, my thought has always been that they could sign 4 to 5 Enhanze deals each year. But let's not forget their pipeline re: their Pan-cancer program, they are accelerating this program so fast that it literally scares investors away. The burn rate is at a $ 250 MM level for this year alone and a great deal of financing had to be done to get them to that kind of a fast tracking level. In the past I would tell you that rapid development of any pipeline is challenging at best, risky for sure and you'll have a winner or a calamity practically over night. Not with HALO today, they right sided their pipeline spend with this injection and balanced the cash on hand to see their own product to market. On top of that, the risk is reduced by Enhanze and the conformation that it is still a much sought after program for drug development. Having said all of that, the Biotech sector is still in a building phase, normally you would see a much stronger response to news like this. Love the company, not many pharma companies have what they have going for them. The stock in this market could trade above $ 18 .00/shr again and the IBB Index is turning bullish across the board so the stock could see even higher levels in the months ahead.
The news really did clear the air and take the risk off the table considering the rate of spend they saw themselves heading for. I think the risk has dropped back down to far more manageable levels now. Good luck with it, I don't know if anyone else holds it but us though! I typed this fast so forgive the mistakes!09-14-17 06:58 PMLike 6 -
