This company has seen a nice streak of beating earnings estimates, especially when looking at the previous two reports. In fact, in these reports, BBRY has beaten estimates by at least 70% in both cases, suggesting it has a nice short-term history of crushing expectations.
Thanks in part to this history, recent estimates have been moving higher for BlackBerry. In fact, the Earnings ESP for BBRY is positive, which is a great sign of a coming beat.

Wonder if short "interest" is down..... or is it just that the stock has met their "interest"?

Short on BlackBerry just doesn't really make sense "today".... they are a viable business and that has assets, revenue and potential to justify a $7 share prices. Now if it moves up to $8 or $9 a share.... they'll be back.

And.... within a few months it had lost another 50% in value. So historically, is it good there is so little interest today?

Personally I just don't see it dropping too much more... even if the licensing of the brand doesn't pan out or if the BBM plans fall apart. I think the key is the enterprise software and automotive software business.

The point being made was that it was the beginning of the (near) end. Short interest went up dramatically from that point and the share price went dramatically south. Short interest has now dropped dramatically and the hope is the share price continues with its opposite tendency.
