Connecting the dots and BlackBerry in India. From an article published a year ago:

NEW DELHI: Taiwan's Wistron, the world's No. 2 contract manufacturer, has formed a joint venture with Optiemus Infracom that will invest around $200 million over five years to make smartphones, tablets and smart devices in India.

The plant, which will have an initial annual capacity of 18 million devices, will start by assembling HTC's devices.

Wistron is a global manufacturing partner for HTC and BlackBerry, while Optiemus is a smartphone distribution firm and counts Apple among its major global clients.

By 2017, India is expected to overtake the US to be the second largest smartphone market globally, according to research firm IDC.

Now we are talking!....will take a lot of this type of strategic deal-making to move the company and SP .... then BlackBerry can really focus more intensely on winners like QNX , IOT, security and software, finally ridding itself of the money losing smartphone hardware business.

Only then will BlackBerry transformation really be completed and the SP valued accordingly, imo.

On that Maynard Um note, from October 31, 2016...

    BlackBerry Limited

BBRY: Expands QNX Relationship With Ford

BBRY announced an agreement with Ford to expand the use of its QNX and security software. The new agreement includes a dedicated BBRY team that will work with Ford to expand the use of BBRY’s QNX Neutrino operating system, Certicom security technology, QNX hypervisor, and QNX audio processing software. More than 60 million vehicles use the QNX operating system including the SYNC3 system by Ford. While financial terms were not disclosed, we suspect the deal is unlikely to be material initially until new car models roll out more materially (it is unclear whether BBRY could get some initial nonrecurring engineering fees). We forecast QNX sales of $110MM in F17 (16% of the software business) and expect it to grow to roughly $138MM in F18. We believe QNX should be one of BBRY’s faster growing segments given the secular growth in connected cars, which will help continue BBRY’s shift to a pure Software company, though maintain our Market Perform rating given limited visibility to whether BBRY can achieve/outperform the Street’s Software revenue expectation.

    Valuation Range: $7.80 to $8.60
Our valuation range is based on a FY18E sum of the parts ($8.20) with a 4.0x price/sales multiple for Software plus net cash. Risks include business model transition, visibility and growth in Software, and lack of profits.

    Investment Thesis:
We believe the transformation into an end-point security solution company is ongoing as Software growth has yet to cover declining SAF revenues.

Apple's iPhone 7 Demand Falls in China: UBS
Apple can’t seem to keep the Chinese market hooked on its products. The tech giant’s overall retention rates fell to 75% in September compared to 82% during the same period a year earlier. That’s largely because Apple has lost a significant chunk of users in China to domestic brands like Xiaomi and Huawei. UBS’ survey results come on the heels of Apple’s disappointing fiscal fourth quarter in late October.

Good luck to all US voters today. May the best candidate win. Regardless of the outcome, it will be a very interesting day for the market tomorrow. Get ready for a roller coaster ride for most stocks. That said, I can't see this presidential election having much of an impact on BBRY. Their destiny is in their own hands, which makes me comfortable holding my investment at my personal record amount of shares now. I think we'll see a strong finish to the year extending through all of next year for BBRY.

Cheers gang, and God bless America!

You are so right. I think we should be up 1,000 pts. today as Trump wants to lower corporate taxes big time, address the deficit, blow up the Middle East, okay, forget that one, he is pro business, the IBB Index has popped huge, everything is in place to catch the hedge funds on the wrong side of the trade here. If so many are short this market, you should bet against them. Lots of time left to trade ............
