How many times have we heard this tired response? Of course we can speculate as to whether Walmart and Best Buy had 3 units or 30 thousand units, or more, or less, between them. But if you know Walmart, or Best Buy, you would be foolish to dismiss the news with such a flippant, and trite, comment.

I think the point is sell outs are meaningless. The passport was sold out initially and then was stocked, and I think they sold 300K units in the first 4 months. I do expect the Priv to sell double that, hopefully 100K this quarter, and 600K next quarter.

If they can deliver in a day or 2, it's because they have stock; not in each store, but somewhere else.

You have failed to take into account my original post, which precedes the one you reference. My initial point was that 'the sell outs' were generating news reports of Walmart sell outs of the BlackBerry Priv. The news, in and of itself, would generate interest in the Priv and curiosity would take care of the rest.

In simpler terms, it doesn't really matter how many Privs Walmart stocked or sold (except to some of us investors). What matters is the general public reads that it has. Would you be more likely to buy a device that languishes on the shelves or one that you can't get your hands on due to its, perceived or real, popularity. The sell out reports tend to enforce the notion that the Priv is in high demand and, therfore, must be a great device.

Those 'sold out' stories continue today at multiple media outlets and to my mind that is a very good thing.
