In other news, Credit Suisse gave Apple a handset haircut for next year (10%), bound to have some effect on our Priv story today. Poor Apple.

Couple of updates on 13F filings.
Fidelity added 5.3M shares and they now have 13.3M shares
TD Bank added 4.7M shares and now have 11.7M shares
These 2 nearly doubled their positions

Also on the options front, some nice buyers of Jan 2016 calls at strikes of $7, $8, and $11 all at the ask price. Total was about 5,000 or 500K shares so not huge but nice to see.
Also just noticed SWIR at new year low around $16, now down 65% ytd! Maybe an acquisition target, mkt cap is about 500M

Today I read in an article that BlackBerry received 250,000 preorders for the Priv until November 6th. This includes all the distribution channels (Amazon, retail stores, carriers, and of course shopblackberry) and all major markets (Europe, USA, Canada). I am not sure whether this information is correct and it is not confirmed. That's why I did not post any source...

The passport had 200,000 preorders the time it had been released. This makes the Priv probably the best selling BlackBerry device by now... and more carriers are going to join in the near future...

If the numbers are correct it's a good sign. However, it is not great either. The Priv will definitely not sell in the millions but it can contribute significantly towards the "5 Mio. goal"...

Priv is Android. With that, it's very unlikely that customers would buy a BB10 device now. Those who do are going to be in minority. So, Priv (and future devices) have to contribute towards bulk of device sales. 5M sales target is for all devices combined and my guess is Priv (and other Android variants to be released in coming months) have to contribute atleast 4.5M of that 5M. I don't expect more than 500K BB10 device sales over next 12 months.

Without getting too deep into this, I think for this Q, Priv sales may counter the BB10 decrease to result in a similar or slightly higher hardware units QoQ with increased ASP.
