Corbu, mark this day on your calendar. The Globe and Mail published an article that said a nice think about Blackberry. Lol
Indeed. And Shane Dingman hasn't been kind to BB in the past... The exception that proves the rule?

Thanks Corbu! I'd get an AndroBerry Slider with a BlackBerry experience. My Torch was great. The thought of Android on a BlackBerry, is like putting anything different than a petrol engine in a car. After a test drive that isn't so bad either. In my opinion Android on BlackBerry is a step to a wider and even more compatible software portfolio.

I don't mind a half android slider, but I have a feeling the haters will have a field day with it - BlackBerry giving up on its own platform, blah blah blah. These people make me sick.

OT from the Related Technologies and Security files:

Hackers stole personal data on every US federal employee, says union | ZDNet

"A letter dated Thursday sent by J. David Cox, president of the American Federal of Government Employees (AFGE) which represents more than 670,000 federal employees, claimed the breach of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in early June was significantly worse than what the Obama administration first claimed. From the letter, widely circulated after it was sent, the union claims "all personnel data for every federal employee, every federal retiree, and up to one million federal employees" was stolen. That directly challenges the government's position that the stolen database was not thought to have contained information on employees applying for security clearance."

Are the "big name apps" which are missing at Amazon available at Samsung? (Serious question, I really don't know It)
And afaik, the main problem are the not working google services therfore many Android apps are not working properly. This problem would still remain unsolved.
(Oh boy, I sound like the folks who are crying for google services on BB10. I don't want it, I don't neet it . No data kraken on my BB)

I like the Dual OS Idea. I just hope the personal side isn't limited to Android. I don't have any use for that.

It would be nice to have a desktop VM when traveling. Plug in the HDMi out to a monitor you're ready.

Interesting read. Might work.... but only if ALL devices have the dual systems and not just BES enabled devices.

I know how popular I am here - all I'll say is that - there will never be a dual-boot - Google doesn't like it in any way and uses the compatibility tests* to enforce its will. Short-version if they wanted to do a dual-boot it would have to be AOSP or a fork not Android and then you are left in the same place without GAPPS.

    * we know from the Skyhook trial documents that the compatibility and compliance tests are whatever Google want them to be on any given day (if you've never read the skyhook trial documents, you should just to get a sense of the level of control that a) google had and b) partners have to give up.

I doubt it'll be dual boot anyways. Dual boot phones are inherently less secure. Unless you segregate the two OS, and phone storage, there will be no way to enforce security of data.

If there truely was going to be an androberry, it'd still be in a VM

I would think a VM is also out of the question - from what we know although google will customize the agreements on a few things - there are a few that seems to unshiftable and not open for debate - one of those seems to be that a device* using GAPPS *must* boot to android, must have the google app suite on the home screen, must have google search as default and , must provide user data to google, (I think but not sure about this one) must have a google search widget on home screen.
