Slightly OT, but answers many questions about carPlay and QNX, also brands that will join the dance (read full article) ... Finally QNX gets some public credit ! Also note the "long lasting parnership between apple and QNX" ...

    https://translate.google.com/transla...-text=&act=url

Abstract (slightly corrected from awful google's translation) :
Tongues are a bit slender for the technology used by Apple to CarPlay. Volvo has left fuiter the platform broadcast h.264 video stream from iPhone to the dashboard, just in the same way AirPlay (even if you have to connect the smartphone with a Lightning cable). More interestingly, the connection architecture is based not on Apple iOS or proprietary technology, but ... on QNX.

QNX is a particularly robust and reliable operating system, used in industry and in many areas, to power machine tools as well as household appliances. Ford wonders also currently on the opportunity to trade against Windows QNX for its own embedded system ... QNX is also integrated into 20 million vehicles worldwide. Seeing Apple using this platform is even more surprising that it was bought a few years ago by BlackBerry, which has made the foundation for BlackBerry 10!

But it turns out that Apple is a strategic partner of QNX, a longstanding partnership whose support was extended to CarPlay.
That does not mean that CarPlay is 100% QNX: iOS remains at the heart of the features.

    Nice find, Superfly!

Since we are talking QNX, you can see some of its goodness in this video, from 6:30 to 6:52 and 7:00 to 7:20. It's in French...

By the way, this is the 2015 Passat, which has just been voted 2015 Car of the Year.

    Slow Day
    OT: BAC
Morgan or any of our TA experts can you provide a quick analysis on how BAC has been trading? I bought in around its low and everything seems like it's starting a new downtrend MACD is negative but i'm also seeing RSI going near oversold and BB are tightening, looking back at the chart every time the BB tightens there is either a major move up or down. So just for learning here do you guys see a prolong downtrend or just a minor set back? my worry is that the 50 MA is approaching the 200 MA which I don't like to see. I'm waiting to here from the FED as well because if they announce interest rate increase then that will benefit the financial sector so seeing what I should do here. Much thanks!
    slipstream89 !!

I'll give you a quick read on BAC if I may, the stock was trying to turn positive last week before they decided to settle with the casino for $ 300 MM, that dropped the stock below the neutral line in the Bollinger Bands. Since then, the stock has been trying to build a base and try to recover from the negative news. The general market is hurting it today as the DOW is looking toppy here and close to a TA breakdown. The stock looks like it has had enough time to digest the news from last week but many are looking at the DOW to see if it can find support soon. The chart pattern is negative but only mildly so here, we are close to the bottom of the BB's but it more like it wants to move sideways pending the direction of the DOW. The volume is really light, there isn't any pressure on the stock so I would watch the general market carefully for my next direction.

    After hours reading material.

BlackBerry Rejects The Mainstream For Profitable Niche Markets - Forbes

BlackBerry took to stage at this year’s Mobile World Congress to reveal two new handsets powered by its BB10 operating system. The handsets focus on specific areas of the market, and it appears that BlackBerry has fully embraced its current place in the pecking order as a boutique smartphone manufacturer, delivering value with highly targeted niche hardware.

The BlackBerry Leap is a touchscreen phone with a five-inch ‘edge to edge’ display, targeted towards the young professionals who operate in a Bring Your own Device environment. The marketing message from the stage pushed the security aspect of BlackBerry’s BB10 OS, as well as the large 2800 mAh battery for ‘heavy all-day use’. The BB10 key software differentiators of the BBM instant messaging system, and the BlackBerry Hub to manage your social media alerts, messages, and incoming information, were also highlighted.

BlackBerry also previewed an as yet unnamed device with a sliding design that allows the handset to be held in portrait mode and a keyboard to be slid out from the base of the device (Dan Seifert grabs a pictures of the device over at The Verge). Beyond the dual-curved screen (a similar style to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge), no further details were offered. A second luxury ‘Porshce’ branded device and another keyboard device (possibly an update to the budget-focused BlackBerry Q5) were vocally trailed.

Following the release in late 2014 of the BlackBerry Passport as the ‘flagship’ business device and the BlackBerry Classic as the ‘regular’ device, I would regard the Leap and the ‘Slider’ to be the high-end and mid-range devices that BlackBerry leans on in 2015, while maintaining the Passport and the Classic in the portfolio.

What I like about these handsets is that they are intensely focused on a very narrow market segment. Normally that would not be a good thing for a manufacturer to undertake in a mass-market smartphone – you want to reach as many people as possible, so the best smartphone is a general-purpose device with good all-round performance.

That’s not the route taken with the devices that BlackBerry has shown in Barcelona. Each device is specifically focused on a small niche with very precise needs. In a way, that focus in one of the best decisions BlackBerry could make. The company is not a major player in the smartphone space (with just a 0.4% market share for 2014, how could it be?). It’s not even a strong minor player in the way that Windows Phone is.

That frees the hardware from certain obligations, and it means that a device that would normally be seen as addressing an insignificant slice of a market for a company like Samsung can be given the complete and utter focus of attention from BlackBerry. That should provide for a device that, with a much narrower user base, actually delivers a far better experience.

So the theory goes. If BlackBerry has accepted the premise of lower device sales and focused on creating as much value in these niches as possible, then it will have made the transition to boutique manufacturer. Much like a sports car manufacturer can be profitable and influential with a few thousand sales, BlackBerry could do the same with sales of a few hundred thousand phones per year.

Defining your market and servicing it well is a key function of any business. It looks like BlackBerry get that, at least from the MWC presentations. We’ll find out as 2015 progresses, and we’ll let you know here on Forbes Tech.
