With markets closed, nothing else to do but ponder.

Is the timing of the AT&T release another planned one by JC? Doesn't need the sales on this quarter, as he has carried forward Passport and has the Classics.

Remember, they had a presale for them at AT&T, meaning they have some estimation of the demand. Now, with launching 8 days before the end of quarter, it gives enough time for them to "sell out" before the quiet period, yet still carry many of them forward into next quarter.

Also interesting, the shortened traditional last-month-before-ER sale. Number boosting is not as necessary? Why? Because of already strong handset sales? BES uptake? Because JC already set the revenue bar low?

All-in-all, I can't help but feel optimistic and be extremely impressed with JC's financial engineering. I'm excited for the inevitable February 27th interview where JC mentions strong AT&T sales, and even more so for the ER.

Wonder if this implies that other carriers will soon be on board. (Like when Telus had the privilege to make a point of being "first" in Canada, even though everyone knew that the other major carriers would be carrying it as well).

There was a news post about Verizon offering the Classic on Feb 26th... and wonder if the PP will be next soon there after.

This is great news for BB. Big milestone.

The next few ERs will definitely will be interesting and telling (obviously). I strongly think JC put off the PP sales in the last ER since he was able to report the $0.01 gain (without them) and will continue to use this type of financial reporting to his advantage (to a certain degree mind you) in order to maintain his goal of being cash flow positive during this transition .

This AT&T launch comes at a good time, as it will go to the next ER and continue the revenue stream until the software gains more traction. As JC mentioned in previous interviews, the need to offset revenue streams on the hardware side now that BB7 is coming to an end and BB10 is to take its place. As he put it, "trying to keep a bucket (with holes) full during these times" (something like that).

Exciting times for sure !!

Was it not already announced that Verizon would follow at month end? ... so AT&T launches first in the US followed shortly thereafter by Verizon... well done CEO chen!...
