"But one computer security expert doubted that such an attack could have been hard to identify. "If you face a DDoS, you know it," said Delft Technical University cyber-security specialist Christian Doerr.
Dave Larson, of Corero Network Security, said: "As enterprises increasingly rely on hosted critical infrastructure or services, they are placing themselves at even greater risk from these devastating cyber-threats - even as an indirect target."
He added that DDoS attacks were "increasingly being used as a smokescreen to hide even more malicious activity on the network"."

For those that are bashing Apple as a worse investment than bbry I have to wonder if you even bother reading earnings reports or you invest only on emotion and device preferences of your immediate peers.
In 2007 no one could have predicted where it would go. Today it is a fairly valued stock.

Ultimately I don't see a long term for their products. They should eventually liquidate and disappear. But they will fight to be innovative or something and blow all their money. It will end in bankruptcy.

Don't believe me? Go look at a 75 year old dow 30 list and tell me how many companies that are still around.

But you clearly mean that investors have to look at FUTURE free cash flows discounted to current value and not simply the last number. For future returns(share price appreciation in percent) , bbry will outperform Apple.

Last quarter Chen had a sale on products at the end of the quarter to get the revenue number where he wanted it. That sale was longer and included more products than what we are seeing so far this quarter. I have been watching to see what he would do this quarter and so far I like what I see.

Hey Guys, I know you don't like hearing rumours and either do I; however, I have an inside source that 10.3.1 will be released on the 19th. An employee from BB said that usually when the staff start talking that they hear of a release date it's true. Hey just trying to give you the inside scoop! Yes I live in Waterloo! Z30 all the way baby!! Once this is released all the Rotten Apples will wish they had the Blend!!

I think it's interesting that as much as many people in here downplay the BlackBerry device side of things and say that it's all about software and enterprise, Apple still seems to be the enemy, or main rival in mind. It seems obvious that whatever we may say, just about all of us really still want to see BlackBerry as a major smartphone maker that also does software, IoT, and enterprise really well.

Comparing BlackBerry to Apple is in some ways kinda silly. Obviously, Apple isn't going to show the huge jumps (or drops) that BlackBerry has done because they are too big. I'd rather keep an eye on Apple and pay more attention to how BlackBerry can succeed in their key objectives, and how they can get their phones into shops as regulars again. Let's just admit and accept that Apple are more talented in a lot of key area, but that BlackBerry have talent too, and the potential to improve.

Can we get back to a civil, friendly and self satisfying thread ?
    Thank you.

Call me a dreamer, a fanatic, a fool or whatever, I'm just buying some RIM shares right now.
While I think it can't really hurt me and I may have a delicious surprise in,say, 5 years, I'm not doing this in a speculative vision, just a support action. As my savings are low, I'll not spend a lot, so maybe I'll buy only 5.

How many of us (and friends) can afford this ? I don't know ...
But if we actively buzz this, it may ... oh, yes, I'm a dreamer...
But just imagine 10% of BB users claiming five shares ...

P.S: Yes, I'm a part of the 99% : I have no other share anywhere.

Edited 09/22/2012 : The original title "I support RIM : I buy share" was misleading many contributors. As of date, I modified my #1 post title and ask mods for the thread title change with : "I support RIM and I buy share". Slight difference, but I believe it gives another meaning to this sentence, closer to my opinion.

    Edited 02/04/2013
: RIM have changed their name to BlackBerry. Therefore, the title change to "I support BBRY and I buy shares !". P.S : This change is subject to mod appreciation so that it may not appear clearly in the forum ... (done : THANK YOU whoever is pressing the button !)

Edited 12/21/2013 : M. Chen is now CEO of BlackBerry and we've seen the best E.R (with a +16% stock day performance) for years. Yet, we all remain cautious an prudent. As an additional warning, I'd like to quote Chris' blog post :

    PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

If you're not used to deal with stocks, the following should be your starting point.

    1. This is real money. Your money. There's no tryouts nor refunds.
    2. You must establish what is your capacity before entering the game. Set it and keep it as an absolute limit (you can add later, depending on your revenues profile). Generally, something like 15% of your currently available and free cash is a reasonable amount. Do not speculate with money you don't own in full (credit). If you lose, don't rely on things like "averaging down" or "buy on dips" unless you have additional cash that fits with this rule.
    3. Stay calm. Looking at the stock on a day basis is hard for your nerves. Either good or bad, fluctuations can happen very fast.
    4. We are a drop in the bucket, even those of us with 100s K $ in the game are nothing if we compare to the global cap (count in $K Billions)
    5. Those playing "against" you have more power, more money and know how the market can react. You don't. Do not use "everyday" logic here. This "game" has its own rules and it takes a while to understand/accept them.
    6. One possible approach is to play "long" (counting in years), this particular approach is the one I suggested when starting this thread back in Feb 2011. I personally stick to this approach, as it appears to be somehow the most adapted for rookies like us, engaging tiny amounts and with very limited skills. Be careful about fees/taxes you may have to pay for each transaction: they can ruin your gains easily.
    7. Please be aware that if you consider investing in stocks, mixing different companies and types of investments (ex : safe, aggressive, short term, long term) is highly recommended.
    8. Last but not least : stay humble and prudent.

Disclaimer : By no mean I intend to forecast a raise of the shares or any kind of advantage. You have to perform your own research. Positions, experiences, questions and suggestions made in this thread are personal views and NOT authorized investment instructions. Be aware that You can lose everything and neither I nor any contributor in this thread will be responsible for this in any circumstance.

    Good luck !

Market participants will be paying close attention to MOBL earnings after the bell today.

BBRY was very active during the quarter and we are going to get a feel for the current competitive landscape for EMM.

    Hi _dimi_ !!

The only time raising capital is a negative is when you do it to buy back stock! Just kidding AAPL, this is great news, that's a pile of money for any small company and it puts a floor on the price of the stock. I have never seen the type of arrangement that they have for pricing those warrants.

Summary of THRESHOLD PHARMACEUTICALS INC - Yahoo! Finance

You can exercise them for no less than $ 3.62 and no more than $ 10.87/shr, but, you can receive an adjustment in the exercise price based upon the next 30 days, or 20 trading days of the stock!!!! So starting on Feb 18 2015, the closing date, they look forward (20 trading days) at the weighted average of the common stock to set the exercise price. I find this very interesting to say the least. This gives you and I plenty of time to buy shares in the company after we know that the stock offering is priced in the bag. Smart idea and now we can follow the stock price to see how much money they really raise.

    Sorry for the OT!
