When Samsung and Blackberry announce their partnership and Samsung buy in....or big contract for using their patents and licensing BB10. Lots of options. If stock is hard to borrow (to short) right now, then it will be a race to cover and I think there are a lot of people who won't be selling. I think Blackberry will keep this news for the ER since revs will be even worse than last Q. So they can say this Q is the bottom, announce the number of BES customers that are paying and forecast software higher. Wouldn't it be great to have a contract with Ford to front load the contract for QNX? Maybe that will be the September ER.

I agree with you (Corbu) . As far as devices go, seems to me the high end niche devices, mostly pkb, is where blackberry can carve out its profitable niche... but they must be high end and distinctive!

... so classic II should be premium with very top tier specs imo ... "Go big or go home" lol

I do understand that for the fleet sales cost is also an impoetant issue... but to gain the reputation back I believe only producing a few devices, each that do stand out, is most important... Overriding price, IMO... those that can afford and want a premium PKB will buy a Blackberry... Premium is key!

Perhaps one non PKB phone per year to address that segment...

Premium with no user base and having to use bootleg android apps doesn't seem ideal I like the idea of a range of high end stuff, but selling a couple low end devices seems like a good idea too.

Re the shorts getting burned. Keep in mind they are playing a different came. They may not get burned in the way you or I would trying to cover bad bets. They have much if this covered one way or another.

They will lose interest in shorting BlackBerry when long term success of BlackBerry looks more certain.

There is something wrong with how this shorting is done but the solution is a sound business plan and makig $$$$.

Nothing going on here, I'll post a chart for HALO and BBRY, let's start with HALO:



This is a very simple, straight forward chart, the stock is locked within a trading range of $ 13.50 - $ 15.00 while we wait for more news later this month. The IBB Index is down to its 50-dma after hitting a new all time high last month. Stocks like ACAD are below their 50-dma for several days now and that hints that we are seeing less strength in Biotech stocks. This usually never lasts long but it does drag all similar stocks down as a sector. So when you see your favourite stock down 4.5% you must look at the group first, in this case the sector is weak again. So for now you buy close to $ 13.50 and sell near $ 15.00 until we near news which could happen at any time. Note that we had to work off a huge over-bought situation (green circle) and we are now back to neutral and ready to clear $ 15.00 on news. Nothing wrong, an expected result of being over bought in a sector that has rallied hard and is under profit-taking.

BBRY - We are finding support at $ 10.00 on a closing basis and we find intraday support around $ 9.80/shr while we wait for news here too:



Please note that BBRY is extremely close to a new rally here back to $ 11.00 plus. The stock is pennies away from its 3-ema which it hasn't been above since the stock was last above its bullish 50-dma. We are waiting on news and the company is unusually quiet right now. You can see the two support lines, we hold them well here, the 3-ema is $ 10.12/shr and we have touched it several times so far today. Nothing negative going on here, I suspect that AAPL is making a double top on the charts as all of the pumping on that one has failed to drive the stock. Near-term options for AAPL indicated a trade above $ 120.00/shr last week and so a ton of traders are losing money now. The pairs trade of long AAPL and short BBRY is coming to an end. So watch for BBRY to clear its 3-ema and for that downtrend line to be violated to the upside.

In summary, nothing special going on today, Gold is down hard, and the US dollar is finally correcting which allows the general market to begin its long awaited rally. Even oil is starting to show some strength as many large cap energy companies are cutting way back on their CAPEX.

The whole reason for posting the above charts/message was to make a plea to Corbu to keep doing what you are doing. Since when is it an OT situation when you post important information about the biggest rival in your investment's mobile sector? You are spot on with your information regarding Apple and I don't want to see you change anything about the material that you post .... or, I will hunt you down and force you to start an exclusive Web club where you aren't persecuted! LOL

Seriously, this thread is all about learning how to invest, it is about a gathering of mass amounts of information regarding ANYTHING to do with the mobile sector and how it affects BlackBerry. The whole reason I'm here is because of guys like Corbu, Rarsen, and many of you long term people here. As a guy who also loves sports/relaxing/socialising/etc., I also want to recharge listening to some music, see some cool cars and learn about other things too. As an investor, we sometimes spend too much time studying the minute moments of our stock, we need some relief from that chore so tilting a few virtual beers back, posting your daughters' best friends' selfie; all of that is a form of relief from the anxiety of trading in BBRY shares. Let's not lose sight of our goal here which is to make a ton of money in the market and have some fun along the way!

I was thinking of Sidhuk's post, #79321 (page 3171, I think) when I made that comment, it stood out because she has no room for a BB phone anywhere on her person. I assumed that she was his daughter's best friend or something. Anyway, he nailed it, something to take our minds of a long day with BlackBerry. Funny, I never hear anyone complaining about family pictures, its' always stock, stock, stock, that isn't BBRY. LOL

I'm done, have had only 2 hours sleep since taking my wife to the airport at 4:00 AM this morning. I see BBRY is on sale for $ 9.99/shr, that's a 65% discount ...... for today only, .... I need sleep.
