Nah, BBM really doesn't work properly for iOS at least...not sure about Android. All my iOS contacts say the same thing: the get ghost notifications (notification and no message), and then the message will show up later and sometimes more than once. Most of them think it's a hassle, but put up with it because I don't have WhatsApp...just being honest...

It's Sexy, But Will The Passport Help BlackBerry Regain Dominance As A Status Symbol? - Forbes

And let’s not underestimate the “cool” factor. Based on my own research, people want the Passport because it’s different from the Apple norm we’ve been seeing since the first iPhone was introduced seven years ago. It has “cool” and “I’m important” written all over it. If BlackBerry can succeed in “bringing sexy back,” the Passport and perhaps BlackBerry has a real shot at becoming the new status symbol for a population desperately looking for something new.

    OT: NantHealth
Polarizing leader in integrating DNA and Protein analysis for much faster and more accurate cancer diagnosis

Not sure this has any credibility at all, but since it is out there... FYI:

All of these pieces–and dozens more that he’s bought or built–combine into a corporate structure as byzantine as his overarching product. His 800 employees are splintered across offices in 14 cities, and NantWorks, the parent holding company, houses nine separate units, all with different investor groups and each apparently designed to trade independently as a tracking stock. The first IPO, as early as next year, will likely be NantHealth, his health care information technology play, poised to profit from new payment schemes created by ObamaCare. Investors include Verizon, Celgene, BlackBerry and the Kuwait Investment Authority. FORBES values NantHealth alone at $1.6 billion. FORBES values the entirety of Soon-Shiong’s Nant-related holdings at $7.7 billion.

My impression of BBM on Android initially was not good, especially when speaking with someone on iOS for some reason. There was considerable lag in the performance of the app and it seemed to take forever to get the "D" and "R". The last 2-3 updates have really made it better on Android, most of my complaints have been dealt with.

Some of my friends who were willing at first to use BBM went back to WhatsApp and Hangouts after trying BBM and having those troubles.

correction. "Passport that I left casually on the counter"
it should say that "Passport that I left "purposely" on the counter"
Funny that i been leaving my passport on public counter tops "Casually" too often.

I talked to them yesterday. Was told that it is in the process.

And on my existing passport, I got this update. Second update ever since I got the passport.
I am liking what blackberry is doing here. No complaints.

BlackBerry touts celebrity adoption of Passport - Cantech Letter

Since the introduction of the iPhone, in 2007, BlackBerry sales have fallen to the point where the company has become a niche player in the global smartphone market. But you might have a hard time convincing the paparazzi of that fact.

One stronghold the Canadian company enjoys is use among celebrities, who perhaps want to avoid an Apple-like nude picture scandal with Blackberry’s famous security.

BlackBerry’s latest offering has been called “uncomfortable” and described by ZDNet’s Steve Ranger as “a phone as strange as the monolith in 2001: A Space Odyssey, and almost as massive.”

But it has also been lauded as “The only truly innovative smartphone of 2014″.

With the Passport, BlackBerry says it is targeting “Power Pros”, busy professionals who are more concerned with productivity than Candy Crush. On the company’s blog it is currently reminding us of the excellent reviews the device has gotten on Amazon from regular people, but also pointing out that many celebrities are taking to social media to express their love for the “hip to be square” device.

“Blackberry launch a new phone today…hmmm! Think I’m gonna have to give that a go. Not happy with this iPhone! #BlackBerryPassport”, tweeted U.K. cricket star Kevin Pietersen, who has nearly 2-million Twitter followers.

“While all yall riding that iPhone 6…The BIG boys are doing BIG business with these BlackBerry Passports,” wrote rapper Saigon on Instagram.

BlackBerry’s Adam Longstaff also points out that Bayern Munich soccer star Claudio Pizarro, UK tech entrepreneur Lord Alan Sugar, and Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur Jason Calacanis have all sung the Passport’s praises.
