Am I misunderstanding Mark Sue's (and other analysts') comments regarding Blend? They seem to be of the opinion that Blend is going to further the case of BYOD and that BlackBerry will drop handsets and become software only. That?s not what *I'm* seeing Blend do.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Blend on a BlackBerry is a USP because on a BlackBerry, a user can get access to BOTH personal and work sides of the device. That's a selling point for companies and employees to go all BlackBerry and ditch BYOD.

I don't think BlackBerry even announced Blend for BES yet. But assuming that's where they're headed, the most Blend will likely grant access to is the Secure Workspace IF the company is running BES 10/12. I doubt BlackBerry will ever get access to Android or iOS outside the BES Secure Workspace because that's the point of the secure container. Work gets a secure container and employee gets unfettered and private access to the personal space. If anything, Blend for Android and iPhone users may either be another USP to adopt BES, and/or a separate fee BES add-on subscription service.

Non-corporate Android or iOS users will have to wait for Google or Apple to do their own version of Blend. Those implementations probably won't get access to any work container unless an MDM vendor wants to make a hole in their security model. I doubt any MDM vendor will do that. So those platforms will probably require two separate "Blend"-like clients. Again a USP for BlackBerry.

Of course this is just my opinion and again, correct me if I'm wrong.
Since slightly OT, I'd try to be short.
Blend supports natively (right now) both personal and work environment.
In fact, this is not "Blend", this is BB10 OS. What you see on your screen is a secure window on what your device is able to access/do. To summarize : Blend features limits are BB10 device features with BES regulation (admin can set specific limitations/rights). So yes, it is BES enabled.

Back OnT : about the ER today.
Again, as for latest E.R, what I want to ear is that the path is followed strictly.
The rigourous approach is here mandatory and J.C must tick the passing points accurately.
We already know he had some ease, because he won't jeopardize the whole strategy with acquisitions if the cash wasn't in the bank already. I mean he could engage a limited amount on behalf of investments' "future returns", but certainly can't get naked. Question is : what is "limited amount" ? I'd guess under 10% of free cash.

I won't like to see a runaway (rush), that could be analyzed as a "desperate all in", I've already read too many of these about the passport - which obviously isn't : how could a "niche in a niche" be ?.
Until profitability is back (positive EPS), Chen must continue to exhibit his rigor and execution on the financial side of the company.

We all saw him quite relaxed and joking at the Passport launch, and - as far as I could analyze his "body language" - I'd bet it was on purpose.
Now, add a solid partnership ... (I had a weird dream yesterday night ... see previous post).

Best of luck to everyone, let's ride this BaBe ... following the Jean Racine Rules
1/ It behooves a prudent person to make trial of everything before arms.
2/ Without money honor is merely a disease.
    Last but not least :
Going places steady wins the race; Drink, eat, sleep, and make a fire to last.

I'll be on heavy duty until E.R ... see you then !

Very low volume but seems to be some wanting in pre earnings release. Up about 4.5% with 20 minutes to go.

EDIT - 6 minutes to go and up 2%. Still low volume.

The revenue number is not great and the Z3 sales look weak. BES 10 numbers were good though.
