Yeah, crazy price action today!

To be honest though, I was surprised with the initial pop. As great as their new offerings are, the real interest for the market is how well they sell.

A good ER can't be denied though, so let's all keep our fingers crossed for that!


The negative pressure on the share price and the general lack of enthusiasm by Chen today do have me worried about the ER. Seems like something other than profit-taking that was driving the price down from HOD this afternoon...

John Chen could only "launch" the device as best as he could. He is now deep into the "quiet period" towards ER, meaning he can't speak about the ER nor give any indication to how the earnings report will be. Imagine if he was giddy and told people that Friday would also be a good day?

Got my passport today from Telus. Waiting for the second one from BlackBerry directly.
I made phone call and I can assure you that it did not make hole in my head like some expert claimed here.
There is a shock of first look that it is too big. But when I looked at the bigger screen iPhone and 10 minutes later it wasn't big any more.

I really likes it! but when I listened to Chen comments it looks like he was conservative and did not want to have big inventory write off. so let's hope it keep going this way and we might sooner than expected get some returns on our investments.

First causality would be ipad and I am gonna sell that asap. I barely used it and I am not gonna need ipad anymore.
The size/form factor shock is for first couple of hours.
I gave first passport to my son. He just came back from university and he is very excited.
IMO. Very solid device. Some Short cuts like bbO7 do work. B=Bottom T=top of the page etc.

I went to the Telus story today and tried out the live demo. What do you mean that it is usable with one hand? Especially typing, theres no way to hold the phone and type with one hand.

I don't think its meant to be used one handed, and from my experience it definitely is not. I'm not trying to be rude or confrontational, genuinely curious how you can say that the device can be used with one hand. It is the only reason I'm hesitant to buy it right now

It works fine in my one hand. Doesn't mean that I can type as fast as with two hands. Once I start typing, the prediction shows 3 different words most of the time. The radius of the right is thumb is better reachable to top left corner on passport than the z30 or bigger iPhone.
I am 6.2 and have average size hands. You should always buy what you like.
However. When I get a chance I will take pictures of holding the phone in one hand and another picture typing with my thumb. Although I don't have to do this cause I really don't care how you think.

BB10 and Z10 had superb reviews but did not sell well. Passport may have bad reviews means they will sell enough to make BB generating profit. I feel so frustrated that I wish I was CEO of Google to return every single search response as below:

IT DOES NOT HAVE TO SELL MILLIONS TO SUSTAIN AND TO BECOME PROFITABLE AGAIN. THE ONLY REASON BB IS MAKING THE DEVICES TO MEET THE COMPLIANT REQUIREMENTS AS BB10 WITHOUT DEVICE IS NOTHING. INFACT, NO REGULATED INDUSTRY WILL USE BBs IF IT DOES NOT MEET SECURITY REQUIRMENTS.

The media still comparing with Apple and ShameSung. In fact more corporate and anroids sold more BB make money. The PM on devices is gone now..

I ordered from BlackBerry this morning before the Telus guy showed up at the passport launching stage and said it is available.
So picked one up for my son from Telus cause his phone is with Telus.
One benefit I found with Telus was that they offered me a $99 two year (apple care) kind of warranty including two incidents of screen shattered or water damages with $50 deductible.
They also knocked off 25% previous device remaining balance.
We just tested Blend and it is great.

I just saw a review of the Passport on the Discovery Channel , Daily Planet show. It was an awesome review. The guy compares it to the competition with an actual example of the assistant working in comparison to the iPhone. Passport blows it away. He also touches on all the major key benefits such as longest battery life out there , the blend app and how it functions securely without the need for a cloud. Then he talked about how easy it was to read on and demonstrated how the touch sensitive keyboard is used as a scroll bar to move documents as you read.
He then stated that he was going back to BlackBerry and is very excited about using the Passport.
Well let's just say that his review got me excited. I think that even we might be surprised at how many of these things they sell. I love it.
I think it's funny that BlackBerry came out with the BlackBerry Blend at the same time Apple came out with the Apple Bend (aka ip6).
When's that crazy reporter going to write an article about how people are buying one iPhone 6 and then returning three of them.
Things change fast in the high tech world.
