Passport has been getting quite a bit of coverage on CP24 in Toronto.
Everyone seems excited. Will have to see how it translates into sales though.

Was at a Fido store yesterday at Square 1 in Mississauga, and the girl didn't know what the Passport was.
Some companies never fail to surprise me with their hiring policies !

This morning I called AT&T to inquire when the Passport would arrive. The operator didn't know, so she had to do some digging. I chatted with her about BlackBerry, how awesome it is compare to my old iPhone. She ended up on BlackBerry website to check out the Passport, giggling as she read the features, saying that this is cool. She used to have a BlackBerry Curve, but she just got an iPhone 6. Before we hang up, she said "hmmm, I might get the Passport and give this iPhone to my husband". Anyway, since she couldn't find out when the Passport will arrive at AT&T, I bought one directly from BlackBerry - with express shipping.

Many people thought of my z30 as, " oh that's pretty nice phone, is it a samsung?". Now with passport and that great screen, it will be, " which phone is that?"

Nah. I going to wait for Z30 replacement. This one is still going strong so no hurry to replace it.

I think High Frequency traders did the magic today. I think for 2 days they have been trying to keep it around 10 due to ER fear. imagine it crossing 11 before ER and if ER is good then all previous highs breached and they would have to pay high price.

Having said that it is a very strong offering. It is exactly what this kind of consumer wants, it ticks all the boxes and more.

So although it will not sell 10 million in the first week, I think it should put blackberry back on the map and should sell well.

Blend looks amazing.i am just trying to figure out how they would monetise it?

True. I think the Passport will be the device of company execs while the classic will be for the rest of us worker bees. That alone may make the Passport more elusive and sought after.

Then again who knows. Seems that when comes to BlackBerry sales logic is out the Window.

Yeah, crazy price action today!

To be honest though, I was surprised with the initial pop. As great as their new offerings are, the real interest for the market is how well they sell.

A good ER can't be denied though, so let's all keep our fingers crossed for that!


The negative pressure on the share price and the general lack of enthusiasm by Chen today do have me worried about the ER. Seems like something other than profit-taking that was driving the price down from HOD this afternoon...
