Probably the part of the interview that was alluded to yesterday. Not quite sure whether the Secusmart aspect was discussed then under NDA. Doubt it, somehow.

Again, BGR back in the fan base ... more, they nailed it very sharply !

BlackBerry Secusmart acquisition analysis: Smart move for BlackBerry | BGR

This is particularly important because in the wake of the massive NSA spying scandal, many governments around the world have been reluctant to trust American companies such as Microsoft and Google when it comes to keeping their data safe. While there aren’t many people who need a smartphone that’s as secure as ones that are equipped with the Secusmart card, the people who do need it are a potentially profitable niche. After all, both U.S. president Barack Obama and German chancellor Angela Merkel both only use BlackBerry devices for mobile communications since no other devices have yet proven themselves up to snuff.
Don't watch the stock today, unless you want to buy, of course !

I really like this move by Chen. If I'm not mistaken the major cost of these secusmart devices is the software. Now that revenue hits BB's books. Hopefully they sell lots of them.

Let's wait until one of the dozen (Forbes, Cnet, Zdnet, BGR, ...) article about how smart BlackBerry's Secusmart acquisition is pops on Nasdaq's "newsfeed" ... if ever they decide to ... how's that they're so late in the party ?

From the front page of CB re: Blackberry Guardian

"Today, in NYC at the BlackBerry Security Summit, BlackBerry has announced that program will now extended to Android apps available from the Amazon Appstore and other sources when it arrives with BlackBerry OS 10.3 officially."

What are the other sources of Android apps....itune?????? lol
    Nice pick.

I wonder what else BlackBerry has going.... we see Guardian used for re-packaged APK's in BB WORLD, and that is one, but if we take his statement "...and other sources" literally, there may be another player in the future mix.

Lol, either that or it's just Chen's English getting in the way again.

As I read the announcement on the front page, Guardian will scan all apps installed on the BlackBerry. So any apps from Amazon, acquired via Snap, or the other Android app stores would go through the scanner on install.

From the Inside BlackBerry blog referenced in the post:

I’m happy to announce that starting with the BlackBerry Passport, BlackBerry Guardian will automatically check all Android apps that customers install on their BlackBerry smartphones. This includes apps from the Amazon Appstore and apps installed from other sources. If a suspicious app is detected, the user will have the choice to proceed or cancel the installation. This on-device service will be available for free to users of the BlackBerry Passport, BlackBerry Classic and future BlackBerry 10 devices. Existing BlackBerry 10 customers can expect to see BlackBerry Guardian in an upcoming BlackBerry 10 software update.

The stock is dropping some over the past few days because Chen said that there was no offer on the table and somewhat confirmed this by making an acquisition. The recent runup was mostly due to the possibility that BlackBerry could be acquired. The Market is saying "Geez. I guess he isn't going to try to sell the company so we're back to the fundamentals which aren't that great."

Anytime a stock price isn't doing what I would expect it to, I try to come up with an explanation other than that the market doesn't know what it is doing because most of the time you will be wrong.

Am I leaning in the conspiracy clan here ?
Is there something like a "fair trade" TW account to copy ?

As for the downward movement in the stock price the past two days, there's still a large segment of the market who view BlackBerry as a takeover target. For them, Chen's statements saying there's no talks for a buyout is not the news they wanted to hear.

Why not quote the actual relevant portion of the article, which is the sentence right before the one you chose to copy above?

"The second largest U.S. automaker will replace Blackberry Ltd.’s smartphones with iPhones for about 3,300 workers by the end of this year, Sara Tatchio, a Ford spokeswoman, said today in an interview."
