On the Passport/Classic and future distribution channels...

I am struck by the fact that we have seen several Passport "leaks" over the last ten days or so... and nothing about the Classic. Could this be some deliberate low-level marketing intended to generate some buzz about this device and BBRY's new image? I do recall JC saying he was not too fond of leaks... And then he shows the device himself three months prior to its launch. As for the Classic, what? It doesn't need any buzz since we think it is a homerun with traditional 9900, etc. users?

I am also wondering about how BBRY will sell those devices. In the US, at least, the traditional carrier channel has proven worthless. What is the alternative? An exclusive deal? I just read someone wondering aloud about a possible Amazon hookup for direct sales. But most people still need to get their hands on the devices prior to ordering, don't they? Granted, the Enterprise segment may be tackled differently. In any event, I am anxious to see what solution BBRY will come up with. As far as I am concerned, we need a fresh approach. We may have the best devices, if we put our faith in the local incompetent Rogers or Verizon salesperson, we won't cut it, IMHO.

Anyway, so much for my musings... Happy Saturday night, guys!

Nice! Just love this thing. I'm tempted and most likely will be getting this beauty

Posted via swift BlackBerry ? Z30!
I'm on Verizon and would love to consider this before my 2 years is up.

Problem is that if I can't try it at a brick and mortar first, I will not get it. I would blindly get a z10 replacement that is sized closer to a z30 without thinking though.

BlackBerry will not aggressively market to consumers till the enterprise ship is solid and cash flow has turned green.

Very interesting article where Samsung declares that their KNOX version of Android is developed by NSA.
It is an article from last year but never the less interesting. Have a read: Samsung Unveils Samsung KNOX™ For Secure BYOD | SAMSUNG United Kingdom
    What!? I haven't heard that!

Everyone needs to know this regarding the NSA involvement (if true).
Kinda like if the corrupt FDA designed a strategy for what folks should eat and called it...
    Oh ya, that happened.

Well, he actually also said during the earnings call. "Go check out the leaks for the new phone because all the information is out there already."

So we basically know all the high level details of the phone already.

I'm assuming not. The Passport is due in September and Classic in November. Probably just based on the device being further along.

I'm watching the Hong Kong release closely. That should be very interesting. I'm actually surprised they are going after that market. Who knows, maybe China next ?

China is a hard market to crack. Maybe all the cheap knockoff Android running phones. I bet they are just testing the waters in Hong Kong 1st. Hope it takes off. That would be huge. I would go after Russia also if I had a good strategy going in.

Absolutely agree, I can see them trying to sell in HK but not mainland China, way to clustered with knockoffs also if in not mistaken they alrdy reversed engineered a z10. I would start shifting focus to south america after africa.
