OT....sort of. My research is not expansive, and could be borderline anecdotal, but I'm sharing with you lads non the less.

In light of BGR's report of slight Market Share increases with BBRY. I quizzed some folks in the know, regarding device availability for employees at the internal BB store (I've discovered this is a good gauge to how well they are selling). For what it's worth, stock on any devices (save for the white Q10) is difficult to come by, the employee store is sold out daily...to the point I am lead to understand, of frustration.

Part in parcel is the fact pricing through BB employee's is so cheap ($99: Z10, Q5, $199: Q10 and $250: Z30), so employee's are snatching them up in droves and selling to friends (to the tune of 25 allowable per employee), the other thou is stock is required for external first, and the limited influx of devices available. It's the fact that BB is having difficulty feeding external first, leaving internal dry is what interests me (The same held true for the first month of the Z10 launch where the device actually sold well for a short period of time). I think it's clear BB does not churn out devices at the rate of their competitors, but potentially having stocking issues is interesting non the less, and lends credibility to the report BB is seeing some slight increases. In essence, BB is buying a bit of share back with some of the amazing deals on their devices.

The argument has been made on here for a long time, that the turn around takes time, and if it holds true that BB this past quarter is able to put more BB10 in the hands of people that appreciate them (even thou it is at reduced prices), this bodes well, as we all know market share is momentum based.

Time will tell, but I thought I should share this

it is not from the author of the article. it is just a comment from a reader in the comment section. i can run few applications and work on them at the same time while taking a call on z30. while i have few headless and regular apps working in the background on z30. note 3 has bigger screen and it is in totally different category.

OK standing corrected on the origin of the comment, but I continue to maintain it's incorrect no matter who wrote it. I spoke of the GNote 3 because I own it and can speak about it knowledgeably as I use the feature regularly. You have been able to use this feature on Sammy flagships since the GS 3. The GS4 and 5 also do it, so my comments hold true for those phones as well that compete in the same category as the Z30. A 5 inch screen is sufficient to use the feature effectively - of course 5.7 even more so

Bbry could do that, but why. I can only read one thing at a time and music or sound from a movie doesn't require a screen.

It's nice when the SP rises, but as someone not buying and selling with every fluctuation, I'm more interested in a rise that can be sustained. It would be great if we could see BB keep most of the gains from this week, and not look back.

I'd also like to see news of full BBMx. Snapchat and Facebook now have video, and WhatsApp is sure to follow. BBM is going to face loads of 'who cares?' questions very soon if we can't keep up. Yeah, we can do the usual and say that BlackBerry doesn't care about the masses and that it's all about enterprise, but I'd be much more encouraged by an announcement that video and perhaps screen share are coming soon.

I really dont think blackberry cares about making money from consumer as per BBM. I think they are focused on pulling in enterprise customers and charging them a subscription fee . Sure they can make some money on stickers and channel ads etc but the real money is in the enterprise

That's what I did expect folks to say. If only 'the enterprise' could show signs of how excited they are about pouring money into BlackBerry coffers instead of being so coy and seductive...playing hard to get, I suppose.

I could never work for BlackBerry HQ, if that really is their view - I just don't have it in me to intentionally field losers. If I were fielding BBM I would want it to be the best because it's mine and my name is on it, regardless of whether I was really waiting for my coy mistress of enterprise to open up. Being second, third, fourth, or fifth, or sixth, and not caring about it sounds like a loser's plan to me. I think BlackBerry almost certainly do care though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an announcement soon.

So, I just installed Google Maps with Snap on my Z30...not expecting it to work as I'm only running 10.2.1.2102...and its working perfectly, transit routes, traffic congestion, everything.
