This BlackBerry 'Classic' stuff is a big reason I'm a little less confident about things. I hope it's called the Q20 for goodness' sake. Who on earth wants a 'Classic' bit of technology? I reckon it will be a great device, but if only BlackBerry products didn't have to carry the burden of hopeless marketing on their shoulders so much of the time. I love the design of BlackBerry 10 marketing, but the message is awful in general.
Hi BBUK, for me it's very intersting to discuss BB's marketing decisions and I enjoy your contributions in this thread. BB's marketing is the one thing, which creates most of my headache. But in this thread it's always a bit OT and this inhibits me to contribute. I would encourage you to create a BB marketing thread, where these things can be discussed in more depth. I would help to keep this thread alive. Just an idea.

It's a shame they didn't include the Z30 in that deal.
I'm not that sure BlackBerry still have many Z30 in stock ...

Point taken, but I was in that case responding to another 'ot' post in this thread. To be fair, I think about half of what is posted by us tends to be OT in varying degrees. I'm thinking about the SP when I mention this stuff but perhaps I will start a new thread on that topic as well.

What did they do with them. They had hundreds of thousands of these that were unsold.

They clearly still have tons of z10s and q10s and q5 that were written off. Which is good bc they can use them in promotional ways as we see with the t-mobile deal

I'm also interested to see what the new keyboard could have different.

I find it hard to visualize a way that keyboard can be implemented differently.

When BlackBerry can afford it, they should really consider opening their own shops. It's obviously much easier to sell phones when all the staff are yours.

They don't have a big enough customer base to do that. They had a couple but closed them down due to lack of interest.

Because it was way over sold since the ER. That's a fact.

I was going to ask the same exact question.

Can any of the pros please shed some light?

Not that I am not happy, I am very happy after all I have been under deep red for sometime and want to go green, but I haven't read anything new.

I agree, even if it is seasonal during peak sales periods such as Christmas or back to school time.
If someone can afford to rent a temporary kiosk in a mall to sell crafts, candles, or calendars, then Blackberry should be able to do the same.

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. Obviously they can't afford to open huge Apple-type shops, but small spaces in malls, etc. The seasonal approach you mention is right. I would add kiosks in malls during launches - new phone, plus the others, with staff who are actually pushing the phones lol

Cause so many people like to make major purchases at a temporary kiosk in the Mall?

The issues isn't people ability to obtain a BlackBerry, the issue is the lack of desire by the average person to even consider a BlackBerry.

BlackBerry has an image to repair and needs to let the masses know what is different about BB10.... just not sure how you do that when they are holding onto the purse stings so tightly these days.
