I was naked for the 9700 for around 2 years. Still in pretty good condition. But I've decided to whip the Otterbox Commuter for the new 9900. No regrets!

I am a Otterbox person. The commuter fits the best, but no holster/belt clip. I went with the defender. It does not fit great but I can live with it. The naked Bold was too thin. I like a little meat on my phone.

Otterbox Commuter +10. Adds the perfect amount of grip and heft to feel secure in my hand, and secure in my mind.

just how much "extra" does the commuter add to the sleek, slim bold?

i know its smaller than the defender...but does it now feel like an original 9000? or bigger?

Like tard44, I'm a big fan of Otterbox Defender, which I've also had on other Blackberrys. I'm naturally klutzy, and have dropped it on pavement a few times with no problems. As well, I have a messy toddler who often picks up my BB, and the Defender comes in useful there too.

My only complaint is a very minor one: I've never been able to lay the screen film perfectly flat, with not a single speck of dust under it. This doesn't impact functionality, but if you're a fussy person...

I am waiting for my 9900 on AT&T. meanwhile I bought 2 extra horizontal cases for my 9000 which hopefully will fit the 9900 with a soft case. Does anyone know if the "sleep" feature will work that way? Or does it really matter?

I don't mean to go a bit off topic, but I had a question about the proximity sensor in the 9900. I had a Bold 9000 and along with it the OEM holster and leather pouch. I'm going to get the 9900 once AT&T decides to release it. Has anyone had experience using the 9000 cases with the 9900? If so, does it put the phone to sleep like the 9000? They seem to be nearly the same size, so I was also wondering if the sensor was in the same place.

    Thanks

My Defender rubber is bunching up sometimes when I try to holster it. It happens mostly on left side when the rubber stops at the clip in. Did your replacement case solve this problem?

Yes it does... But the phone is slimmer than the 9000...

In fact, Crackberry Store has a combo Hard back case + 9000 holster, that works great.

I have the O'box Defender, but using the combo from CB Store for now... Will keep it for when the going gets tough...

Personally really loving my Vaja Silver case. Doesn't add much bulk to the case, offers really great protection and is a pleasure to hold.

I'm planning to do a full review w/photos for this and the 9780 case we just got (sending back the iPad case, it's unfortunately no where near as good as the two phone cases).

Otterbox Impact. Hardshell cases make my 9930 slip out of my pocket too easy. The soft silicon is a little more resistant to slippage.

I think the very best mobile phone case is made by Vaja.
I have an Iphone and my wife the Bold 9000.
We both have Vaja cases, whenever AT&T decides to sell the 9900 a new
Vaja will be in the works.

I have tried a few and here are my opinions.

Otterbox Defender - 1st one they shipped me, the rubber sleeve kept peeling off. They sent me a 2nd no questions asked and so far has been very good. It protects all ports, and is perfect for my line of work(construction). It is bulky, but does the job!

Seidio Surface - Easy case to install. Just click the top piece to the bottom and you are all set! Does not protect any ports, but is not bulky at all, and comes with a spring holster and magnet. Originally Seidio was shipping these without magnets, but they sipped me a free holster with the magnet free of charge.

Seidio Surface Convert Kit - This adds more protection to the Surface case as it has a protective rubber sleeve to protect all ports. I have not received this in the mail yet, but it looks as though it will compete with the Otterbox Defender

Stock Leather Holster - Does the trick if you prefer a naked BB. I use this on light days at work and has a spring clip.

My favorite so far has to be Otterbox Defender out of these although like I said the Seidio Convert kit may compete.
