    I Just wanted to commend Otterbox and there customer service. I just called there 888 number and on the first ring i had a live person answer the phone. +1 on top of that the person actually spoke English and i could understand her. +2.

    The reason for calling the thin piece on my commuter case has broken, twice now and they are sending another replacement to me free of charge. I am rough on my phone, have dropped it a few feet on concrete and the phone does not have a single scratch on it. The cases are amazing but something can only survive so much before something gives.

    If you have any doubts about otterbox, dont, and i highly recommend ordering one. The only thing this would not prevent my phone from on a normal usage would be me submerging it.

    Lol pre 9700 i emailed them and asked when they were planning on releasing the defender case for the device (this was like october 2009)

    got an email back like a week later saying NO, and doesnt look like we plan on it.

    I laughed so hard at their CSR. and then BOOM 9700 gets released and defender is released like a week later.

    i guess you got lucky

    i agree... my otterbox for my 9700 looks and works pefectly... will always do business with them when it comes to protecting my bberry =D

    I can definitely +1 on their customer service.

    That said, the 9700 Defender has a serious design flaw that I hope will be fixed. I'm on my third holster in four months. The plastic used for the holster is too hard, and with repeated inserts, it will flex and develop hairline cracks. You'll notice that your 'berry is easier to insert/remove and may fall out out when you're running. Soon after that, clip will break off.

    That said, Otterbox knows about the issue and is supposed to be working on a fix for it... in the meantime, they will FedEx you a holster at no charge.

    Sorry for bumping this up, but i didn't want to create another thread.

    Do you need any packaging info for getting replacements from CS?? I got my commuter at Ross for $10, where it was just sitting outside on their clearance table. Nothing has happened yet, but i'm scared that the plastic will break soon...

    You will need a receipt for the Otterbox item, and a receipt for your phone, if Otterbox is covering the repair/replacement of the phone too. They will need a scanned copy in an email attachment.

    They never asked for packaging. Just copies of the receipts. I didnt even have to return the broken items.
