I left my OEM charger at a hotel and now I am wondering if I can use a Motorola mini USB charger on my BB. I have heard from 1 person (AT&T sales person) that yes I can use it to charge the BB without any issues and I have heard that it will cause my battery to lose charging capacity and will not hold a charge as long.

Who's word of advice should I follow?

Using the mini USB connection from computer as a standby, but this isn't quite as portable as before

I would use it, a charger is a charger as far as I know.

If you are referring to a USB charger, then you should be fine. A wall charger, if the output is slightly different than the OEM wall charger, can cause damage to the battery.

I use my motorola chargers at work and in the car, regularly. No issues yet! I am pretty sure that if you throw a meter across the poles, that a USB mini wall charger is a USB mini wall charger. I have noticed that when connected to a computer without BB DM installed, that the power level is not enough to charge my Curve.
