By on, and off, do you mean it locked the screen, and put it into stand-by mode? Could you still receive calls / sms / email etc...

These cases scratch my phone. I don't know what to get to protect it.

Get a zagg invisible shield full body protection skin, with the AGF GRT Endo case/holster clip... That's what I have. Have had my torch for 4 months, and it looks brand new...

I was told this does not cover the bezel. I've heard about the 3 or 4 most popular cases including the AGF GRT and have read they are all prone to scratch the top portion of the upper bezel.

All the silver part of the torch and up around the lock and mute button.

If you put the full body zagg on, it covers quite a bit. It won't cover the top strip with the mute/lock buttons, but comes with enough excess material, that you could easily make your own strips for any missing areas... The scratches do not come from the case, but rather dirt that gets inbetween the case and the phone.

Cover the phone, and keep your phone/case clean, and you should be all set

By turning it on and off, I meant the actually blackberry was being turned on and off because I think the magnet was near the antenna. Took the leather case off and no restart or the phone being dead and then suddenly restarting itself.

I've ordered a plastic clip on cover, not going to use another magnetic clip case again
