The sensor seems to be in a slightly different spot on this phone.

Using either of my old RIM holsters (stretchy sided one from my 9700 or my leather one from my 9000), neither puts the phone to sleep but for a second.

I've noticed with the 9700 holster that the phone will sleep about 3/4 of the way in, but once completely in the holster it wakes up again.

Is this RIM's way of increasing holster sales? LOL

Every phone has a different magnet placement because of how it is built. Almost very rare that two different models have the magnet in the same spot. I had to move the magnet to other places between 9700 and 9810

The only non-9810/9800 cases/holsters that have the magnet in the right place are the ones for the Storm and Storm 2. They both fit perfectly as well, although note that there are no side notches for pulling out the device -- you have to pinch the top to slide it out. Not sure that's a good thing with a slider.

OK, anything to save a few bucks, right? LOL

Since I traded in my 9000 when I got the 9810, I took the magnets out of the 9000's holster. Then I cut a slit in the lining on my 9700 holster just below the original magnet and slid one of the 9000's magnets into that slit, then covered up the slit with a bit of black duct tape. It works perfectly!

I bought a stock BB holster a couple years ago for my 9000. It works perfectly fine on my new 9810. I think I got it at Bestbuy.

I never even thouyght to check this. I've been wearing my Bold9000 holster and putting my 9810 in it for two weeks.

I've just checked and the direction I usually holster in doesn't put the phone to sleep. If you turn the phone over however it does.

If you put the phone into the holster top first screen in or out it catches the magnet.
