I have a '08 Ford Fusion with a 3.5mm stereo plug to play external MP3 players. The only problem is that my 8830 has a 2.5mm plug. I've found 24' long cables but I don't want a cable that long. I haven't had much luck finding a short 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable. Any idea?

LG - Stereo Headset for Select LG Cell Phones - SGEY0003602

Get this. Then unplug the headphones that come with the adaptor and just plug in a male-to-male 3.5mm cable into the adaptor and into the car. Then you can listen to your tunes and even talk on the phone handsfree. 2 solutions in one.

That will not work. That is a 2 pole adaptor. The BB requires a properly wired 3 pole adaptor for this to work correctly. That generic ebay adaptor is the same as the ones found a Radio Shack and they do not work.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I now have a 2.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable. I've plug in the 2.5 into the Blackberry earphone out receptical and the 3.5mm end into the car Line-In jack. Unfortunately, the music still comes out of the Blackberry speaker and not the in-dash unit.

What you are doing wrong is not reading the posts I made in this thread. The cable must be a 3 pole 2.5-3.5mm adaptor cable. A generic one WILL NOT WORK. Trust me... I've tried them and know what works reliably and what doesn't.

    I purchased is a 3 pole(stereo) cable. Yes I understand the difference.

Not all 3 pole converters are created equal.

Yep, the Verizon adaptors work well too... a bit cheap in quality, but they work. (i.e. I had two fail.)

I tried that one from RS 2.5-3.5 3 pole stereo whatever the **** u wanna call it but it DID NOT WORK with my 8830 and Sony monitor heads. Oh well I'll try the VZW store one. I guess.
