I've dropped both my bold and 8900 on concrete drive way. The BB's are tanks, they come flying in 3 pieces, battery, cover and the phone itself.

Only damage is nicks on the corners but a new bezel makes it all new again!

So funny, I dropped my berry today in the oem case today, in the bathroom @ work today. It didn't even bother as much as I thought it would. Still lovin my 8900.

Not my 8900 but my 8310 flew out of my pocket when I was on my bike taking an off ramp at about 60k/h... a car came along behind me and ran it over. Hate to say this... but it did not survive

Dropped it on the floor once. Back plate came off and battery fell out. Now using a Otterbox Defender, and love it.

Why take the risk man? Get a case. I got an otterbox and even thou it adds a little weigth-dimensions-etc. its well worth it.

Why risk killing a $300+ piece of equipment plus all your apps, and settings for one clumsy moment?

I just dropped mine today onto concrete at my job. Still going. I got a few nics on the 'metal' but it could always be fixed with a new edging when I don't give a damn about the warranty.

I've dropped it a few times on ceramic tile floor. It's still working, but there might be a really minor nic in the top part of the phone that is exposed when it is in the OEM case.
