The bottom of the phone has some terminals on the sides in bottom I'm guessing that's where the prongs contact with the charger

lol sorry....you plug the usb charger into the back of the charging cradle...you then place the berry into the cradle and the two metal contacts on the lower sides of the blackberry will accept the juice!

As an owner of the cradle I recommend it to every bold owner. I have my phone so it sets on auto bedside mode when charging so I just slide the phone into the cradle at my bedside every night and it charges, shows my clock, dims, and the coverage indicator stops.

I realized yesterday though that you can't sync to your computer using the cradle, only straight usb. But that's ok nothing deal breaking.

Another question....is it bad to leave the fone in the cradle after it's fully charged?

there are a couple of websites that sell it cheaper than $17.

newegg is one of them and the other one is handhelditems....there is a code for that one, but i forget what it is. there's a thread on here that gives it. don't know if it's still valid, but worth a shot.

I love the cradle. I just ordered a second one from Amazon for about $15. They also have the folding blade charging cable for about $6.

open clock, press menu key, go to options:
under Clock , click on "when charging": set that to "enter bedside mode"

click where it's highlighted and change the "display clock" to whichever you want.

One of my local T-Booth stores just got one in...picked it up last night

It seems to be a supply issue. I am assuming a lot of retailers have been asking about them, but they've just taken a long time for it to get from RIM/BlackBerry to the store. I'm sure a retailer can order one for you. Or, you can order it from RIM directly (but then pay shipping).
