As indicated by my user name, I am hard on my phones. I bought a used 8830 a month ago, and I have already lost the outer silver ring of the battery door and scratched the case during a recent drop.

My question: How hard is it to change the case on the 8830 WE? Does anyone have a video or post showing this process? Thanks for your help!

I just replaced the case on my 8830. It was very easy. I only a few screws and I watched a video on youtube that showed me how to do it. Only took me a few minutes. The place I bought my case from also supplied free torx drivers and a plastic pry tool.

May I ask where you ordered the case from?

They're available on eBay, I'll have a better write-up when I receive mine.

This is the one I bought.

I changed out only the keyboard so that I have black keys and white lights - much more visible. I purchased from cnn.cn in Hong Kong.

I just swapped out the whole housing with a replacement from cnn.cn. It's very easy (15 mins) and looks like it came from the factory!

I stuck with the silver b/c I like it, but I assume the black one would fit just the same. Make sure you're getting OEM parts.

Just go to the site, click on BlackBerry, then click on the model 8800/8820 or 8830 - they are the same phone casing and will fit.

I also bought a black case from cnn.cn and it looks perfect!! I like the white keyboard backlighting better than the Verizon silver with blue backlight. Much easier to read the lettering.

They have a video on the site (at least, used to when I made my purchase) that showed how to open the case and refit the new pieces. Very easy and quick!
