Would it be safe to charge my bold using a wall charger from my MP3?
My MP3 player charges via micro usb so it would fit into my bold.

I dont have an official wall charger for my blackberry. And I find it inconvenient having to charge my blackberry through USB to my computer.

    Thanks.

I think it would be ok, but you have to see how much voltage that charger gives off,
the blackberry battery is 3.7 (correct me if im wrong) if it gives off more then that it could fry your battery

The standard BlackBerry wall charger is rated at 5v, 700mA. Any 5vdc charger with a compatible USB connector will work. mittenmonster's warning is incorrect.

I have the charger with me and it says:

    100-240V~50/60Hz 0.3A 30VA

Would it be safe or not?

    Thanks for the responses.

If you copied those specs correctly, no, it would not. 30VA at 0.3A would mean 100V. That's a highly improbable power supply for any small electronics device, so I suspect you misread something.

That sounds like input voltage. Is there someone on the charger for output voltage?
When in doubt.. don't use it.

I regularly charge my Bold with a charger for a Motorola phone and also charge it in the car with a charger ment for my bluetooth kit. As long as the chargers output is rated at 5VDC (I have never seen a Mini USB charger that wasnt) you should be fine.

    Oh I'm sorry.

    The output is: +5V 2A

sounds like that's too much current for the Bold.

I believe in talking to all my electrical engineer friends that the 2A is the most the charger will put out. Since the voltage is right and you only need 700ma max, you should be fine using this charger.

Honestly, I use a Motorola charger for my Bold from time to time and do not have any problems.

Network guy is correct on both counts. I should have recognized that you were quoting the input specs. The BlackBerry will only draw as much current as it needs. A 5VDC, 2A supply will be fine as long as it has a compatible connector.
